Background / History

As a young Yao Clan alchemist, Yao Chen sought to win the Pill Gathering and obtain resources to treat her chronically ill mother. Her attempt to refine a Sixth-grade pill failed after medicinal ingredients were replaced, allowing Yao Wangui to frame her for theft. She was expelled from the Yao Clan, and her mother died soon afterward; the shock turned Yao Chen's hair white. 926 927

After leaving the clan, Yao Chen rose to prominence as an alchemist, becoming known across the continent as Venerable Yao and the Continent's Number One Alchemist. She founded Starfall Pavilion alongside Wind Venerable Feng Xian, though she later neglected many of its duties. 356 368

Yao Chen rescued the orphaned Han Feng from bandits and accepted her as her first disciple. Their relationship later broke apart when Han Feng participated in Yao Chen's betrayal, but Yao Chen eventually accepted responsibility for her own arrogance and forgave Han Feng after learning that her disciple had acted for her survival. 359 927
