Background & History

The Human Race begins as an oppressed and vulnerable people in the harsh Primordial Land. The Witch and Demon Clans hunt Humans in large numbers, both consuming them and using their lives to refine the Demon Slayer Sword and Witch Slaughtering Sword. Facing possible extinction, the surviving Humans plead collectively to their creator, Nuwa, for justice. 14

Nuwa does not answer their plea, and the Human Race ultimately severs its ties with her. Nuwa later acknowledges that Humans were born in accordance with the Great Dao and are destined to become the sole supreme race after the Witch–Demon calamity, though she claims she could not intervene in their slaughter because of pressure from the other Sages. 17 179

Sanqi intervenes on her master’s orders and declares the Human Clan to be under her protection. She establishes a valley as a refuge through Suirenshi’s efforts, provides teachings that form a cultural inheritance and spiritual backbone, and grants powerful inheritances to Human leaders. 15 273 275 286

With its leaders united and its people taught to cultivate, the Human Clan repels Demon Clan assaults rather than merely enduring them. During Ji Meng’s invasion, ordinary Humans fight the Demon Clan’s great demons in organized formations, eventually surrounding them; many use weapons fashioned from demonic horns, teeth, and bones. 309

The clan’s development accelerates after its first victories. It gains writing through Cangjie, reliable food through Shennong’s herbs and grains, protection through its leaders and allies, and broad living space after the Witch Clan retreats from Human territory. 473 530

By the final conflict, the Human Clan has formed a coalition with ancient clans, independent powers, and Heaven’s Mystery Pavilion. It fights the united Witch and Demon Clans across two battlefields, captures leading Demon and Witch figures, and emerges as the force that takes over the Heavenly Court. 1057

Characteristics

The Human Race is depicted as a people of varied clothing, weapons, and living conditions rather than a physically uniform race. Before its rise, many Humans live in trees, caves, or the open; later, their settlements develop through construction, agriculture, writing, and cultivation. 273 282 473 530

Human Clan Script

Cangjie creates 3,000 Human Clan characters over nine days. The characters withstand divine lightning, receive recognition through Merit Power, and give the Human Clan its own written means of inheritance alongside Dao Script and Demon Script. 473

Shennong tastes hundreds of herbs and brings grains and medicinal plants to the Human Clan. With Dragon and Phoenix support, Humans cultivate fertile land extensively, end dependence on hunting and wild fruits, and begin producing surplus food for exchange. 530
