Background
Zhunti's true form is the Geng Metal Bodhi Tree. He absorbed the essences of the sun and moon, received heaven-and-earth creation, obtained his opportunity at Purple Cloud Palace, and ultimately became a Heaven Dao Sage after founding the Western Sect and gaining extensive merits. 149 725
He refined a branch taken from his own true body into the Seven Treasure Mystical Tree. The branch was combined with Stem Fire Purple Gold, Mystic Flame Lapis Lazuli, and seven further treasures. 43
The Western Land's depleted spiritual energy and damaged ancestral home shape Zhunti and the Guiding Sage's pursuit of opportunities, resources, and recruits. Zhunti repeatedly invokes the West's karmic debt to justify taking things from the East. 220 522 536
Appearance
Zhunti usually appears as a short, hunched, gaunt old Daoist in a worn dirt-yellow robe. When fighting seriously, he manifests a massive Sage Golden Body with twenty-four heads and eighteen arms. 149 401
- Sallow earth-yellow complexion and ordinary, somewhat shifty features. 149
- Thin, stick-like frame; short stature and a persistent hunch. 149
- Withered hair tied with a wooden hairpin. 149
- Carries the radiant Seven Treasure Mystical Brush Tree. 149
- His Golden Body is both solemn and grotesque, with each of its eighteen hands holding a magical treasure. 46
Personality
Zhunti is highly conscious of status, face, and public perception. Insults or unfavorable rankings repeatedly provoke rage, humiliation, and increasingly unstable mental states. His Physical Body and Combat Power rankings, as well as defeats by Nuwa and Sanqi, contribute to a near-collapse of his Dao heart and growing demonic tendencies. 256 534 723
He is opportunistic and manipulative, commonly framing attempts to seize people or artifacts as destiny, karmic obligation, or instruction. He sought the Human Clan's leaders under the guise of “re-education,” attempted to take Kong Xuan to the West because of her supposed connection to it, and defended Eastern plundering as necessary for Western development. 397 400 504 522
Despite his poor reputation among the Sages, Zhunti remains ambitious and persistent. He continues to seek treasures, recruits, and chances to strengthen the Western Sect even after repeated public failures. 173 220 503

Story Role / Major Arcs
Conflict with Nuwa
After disparaging Nuwa as inferior because she was a woman, Zhunti faced her challenge in the Western Land. He used the Seven Treasure Mystical Tree, Sage Golden Body, and Thousand-Hand Buddha, but Nuwa repeatedly humiliated him with superior treasures, including the Creation Whip and Rashomon. 31 43 46 48
Rankings and Loss of Face
Zhunti was ranked 18th on the Primordial Grace Rankings, 21st on the Physical Body Ranking, and 24th on the Primordial Combat Power Ranking. The latter two rankings reinforced his reputation as the weakest Sage, though his physical combat value of 361,350,000 and overall combat value of 513,250,000 remained far beyond ordinary cultivators. 149 257 725
Battle for Heaven's Mystery Pavilion Opportunities
Zhunti and Guiding Sage pursued a Heaven's Mystery Pavilion quota and later fought other Sages over an abandoned scroll. Zhunti declared the scroll destined for the Western Land, briefly seized it, and fled before being struck down by Nuwa and other Sages. 173 220 221
Human-Demon War and Sanqi's Suppression
After clashing with the Witch Clan, Zhunti arrived at the Human-Demon battlefield claiming to stop a meaningless war. His actual goal was to subdue the two Heavenly Emperors—copies of the Grand Dao Codex—and add them to the Western Sect. 393 396 397
Sage Sanqi exposed his interference, defended the Human Clan, and defeated every escalation Zhunti made. She broke Mount Sumeru, neutralized the Six Roots of Purity Bamboo, shattered Three Thousand Greater Worlds, defeated Buddha Kingdom in the Palm, stripped away his Golden Body, and detained him. 401 403 404 408
Attempt to Take Kong Xuan
Seeking a powerful non-Sage combatant for the Western Sect, Zhunti intercepted Kong Xuan and claimed that she was fated for the Western Land. He withstood her Five-Colored Divine Light and subdued her, but Suirenshi arrived to rescue her and challenged Zhunti directly. 503 505 508 519
Mystic Art Rankings and Dao-Heart Crisis
Public ridicule, low rankings, and repeated defeats pushed Zhunti near a Dao-heart collapse. His Thunder Dao Mystic Art failed to enter the Mystic Art Chart, but the eventual listings of Thousand-Hand Buddha at 93rd and Buddha Kingdom in the Palm at 75th stabilized him temporarily. 534 536 540
Trivia
- Zhunti's true form is a tree, yet he refined one of its branches into his most famous weapon. 43 149
- He lacked a mount when other Sages displayed theirs; Demon Saint Ci Tie volunteered to serve as his mount to spare him further embarrassment. 440
- His combat ranking reward included a Grand Dao Fragment despite his 24th-place position. 725
