"Our philosophy at Li Group is to make human life better, so the medicines we develop have always followed that direction."
At Li Group's new product launch, Li Chuan stood with a microphone and a smile, introducing and promoting the product according to the script Jack had prepared in advance.
Because the new product was exceptionally effective and affordably priced, the reporters below immediately erupted after Li Chuan finished his introduction, scrambling to ask about the relevant details.
Li Chuan answered each of them with complete composure.
"Boss, the results are great. Once this launch is over, there should be plenty of coverage about our company and products tomorrow. Once we build our reputation, we'll have gained a foothold in New York for the time being."
After the product launch ended, a brown-haired man in his thirties reported to Li Chuan with some excitement.
That brown-haired man was none other than Jack, the one truly responsible for the company's overall operations.
Li Chuan patted Jack on the shoulder and smiled.
"It's thanks to you as well. You've worked hard during this time."
"It's nothing. If you hadn't stepped in and saved me back then, I'd probably be rotting in some filthy ditch by now. My family wouldn't be living as well as they are today, either!"
Jack replied with a solemn expression.
After graduating, he had returned to his homeland of Sokovia full of ambition and started a business. Relying on the knowledge he had learned and his talent for business, he had built everything from scratch.
But as his business grew more and more successful, he also offended quite a few people.
Those people could not beat him through legitimate business tactics, so they resorted to dirty tricks. They forced him into bankruptcy and even instigated his younger brother, who was still in school, into gambling and racking up a massive debt.
Just as his entire family was about to be driven to death over those debts, Li Chuan appeared. Not only did he resolve all of his problems, but he also got rid of every rival who had once plotted against him.
That was why he now worked so hard to run the group's business: to repay Li Chuan for saving him and his family.
Of course, watching the group he managed grow stronger step by step also gave him tremendous satisfaction.
"You should take better care of your health too. Eat more of the refined Power Pills when you can. Even if you don't want to practice martial arts, eating more of them will still improve your physique considerably."
Li Chuan nodded, reminded Jack of this, and then left.
In truth, he had saved Jack back then because he needed someone with management talent. He simply had not expected Jack's business abilities to be even more impressive than he had imagined.
Jack's operations and management had also played a major role in allowing Li Group to become one of Sokovia's top enterprises within three years.
Even the finest wine feared being hidden in a deep alley. No matter how good a product was, without proper operations and management, one would often end up making a wedding dress for someone else.
"A new mission is available. Please open the panel and check the mission tab."
Just as Li Chuan got into the car, a mission notification suddenly sounded in his ear. He casually opened the panel to take a look.
Since arriving in New York yesterday, aside from the side mission to save Dr. Ethan, several other side missions had appeared. They came far more frequently than they had in Sokovia.
For example, stopping some thief from stealing something or rescuing a small animal—these were all extremely simple missions, and their rewards were basically useless to him, so he ignored them.
Once enough time passed, these minor side missions would disappear.
"A new main mission!"
When Li Chuan opened the panel to check his missions, his eyes suddenly lit up. This time, it was no longer some insignificant side mission, but a main mission that could open a new world.
He immediately opened the newly added main mission and examined it carefully.
Main Mission: Expand Li Group. Beginner: Make Li Group a first-rate enterprise in New York. Intermediate: Make Li Group a top enterprise on par with Stark Industries at its peak. Advanced: Make Li Group the strongest enterprise, far surpassing Stark Industries at its peak. Mission Reward: A new Minor World. Starting identity and talents vary according to completion level.
"I knew it. None of the main missions are ever easy to complete."
Seeing the new main mission, Li Chuan could not help rubbing his forehead.
As a rough martial artist, what he was best at was fighting and killing—missions like infiltrating the Hydra Base and causing destruction, like last time.
Tasks involving romance and business were precisely his weak points, yet the main missions kept leaning in that direction.
His first main mission after transmigrating had been to court Wanda and marry her. It took him three years, and only after giving her his genuine feelings did he finally complete that mission.
Now that the second main mission had finally appeared, it actually wanted him to run a company. That was harder than sending him alone to take on the Chitauri.
Becoming a first-rate enterprise in New York should be achievable in a few years with Jack's management abilities.
But becoming a company capable of standing alongside Stark Industries was far more difficult.
His medicine business might have high profit margins, but could selling medicine really make as much money as selling weapons or dealing in energy?
Of course, that was hard to say. Black-hearted pharmaceutical companies truly made obscene profits. If he did it well, he might genuinely earn a great deal. The key issue was that Stark Industries had been established for far too long and had enormous operations across every sector, while his was only just getting started. The difference in scale was simply too great.
Not to mention catching up in eight or ten years—even taking two or three years would feel far too slow to him.
Stark Industries had been founded in the nineteenth century, with business interests spanning aerospace, military manufacturing, medicine, security, and other high-tech industries—all of them among the most profitable fields.
At its peak, Tony's net worth was probably two or three hundred billion dollars.
And the highest completion level required far surpassing that. Just what level would that take?
"No, I can't think about this in the conventional way!"
Li Chuan shook his head, casting aside his thoughts about how to run the Li Corporation and make it grow in the future. Instead, he first calmed himself down.
Running a business was not his forte. If he truly devoted all his attention to it, then by the time Thanos arrived, he probably still would not have reached Advanced Completion.
"Perhaps, if I want to reach Advanced Completion, I need to find another path."
Gradually, new ideas formed in Li Chuan's mind. Jack would still handle the company's operations. What Li Chuan needed to do was make use of his own strengths and indirectly help the company grow through other means.
In fact, once he had calmed down, he felt there was no need to rush to complete the second main quest. After all, he had yet to tap much of the value of the first world.
What he needed most right now was still to improve his strength first. Once he was strong enough, he could obtain more resources to make use of, which would instead accelerate the completion of the main quest.
On the surface, this second main quest looked like a business-related mission, but what it truly tested was not business ability.
Stark Industries was powerful not because Howard and Tony possessed godlike business skills, but mainly because of the father and son's ability to invent and create.
Li Chuan did not possess the ability to invent and create, but he had an additional Minor World, greater strength, and knowledge of many secrets that others did not know.
As long as he handled things properly, perhaps the new main quest would not be as difficult to complete as he had imagined.
