After an unknown amount of time, Velin felt something soft against his face and woke from his sleep.
When he opened his eyes, everything before him was dark. He reached up and rubbed them, seeming to realize what it was.
Xuemiyya felt something strange against her chest and suddenly came back to her senses. A hint of shyness flashed through her eyes as she hurriedly slapped Velin's hand away, her movements slightly flustered, as though she wanted to hide something.
After dealing with Velin, Xuemiyya secretly glanced at Tadius and Kyle. Seeing that both of them were entirely focused on unraveling the ball of light, she could not help but let out a breath of relief.
It would not have been a big deal if they had noticed, but it was always better if they did not.
That slap fully woke Velin. He smiled awkwardly, adjusted his sleeping position, and lay on his side with his head on Xuemiyya's lap. He turned his gaze toward the ever-changing ball of light in Tadius's hand. At times it shattered, at times it dimmed, and at times it expanded.
