"It had been many years since I last saw your father. I wonder how he had been doing lately?" Velin looked up at the sky, wearing a nostalgic expression.
"Uncle Velin, Father had been living a very fulfilling life these past few years. He was busy with military affairs every day, so much so that he had no time to spend with us," the red-haired girl said softly, lowering her head.
"So busy?" Velin asked in surprise.
The red-haired girl studied Velin's expression, suspicion appearing on her face.
Sensing Elina Cassius's doubts, Velin remained composed, showing no sign of panic.
"Uncle Velin, where had you been serving these past few years?"
Hearing this, Velin replied, "I can only tell you that I am in Zeferus Territory. As for what exactly I do, I cannot say."
Seeing this, Elina Cassius's doubts were mostly dispelled.
If Uncle Velin was in Zeferus Territory, it was perfectly normal for him not to know what was happening in Qixing Territory. Perhaps she really had been overthinking it.
Watching Elina reason herself into acceptance, Velin wanted to laugh, but he held it in.
Deceiving his subordinate's young daughter was truly amusing.
Still, this would probably only work on an innocent little girl like the red-haired girl, one who paid no attention to worldly affairs. Anyone else would not so easily believe what he said.
After chatting idly for half an hour, the red-haired girl rose and said goodbye. "Uncle Velin, I still have classes, so I'll be leaving first."
"Go on."
Velin answered, putting on a faintly reluctant expression.
After the red-haired girl left, Velin remained seated for another half hour before heading toward the exit of the Mage Academy.
When he reached the gates, he dispelled his disguise and returned to Star Moon Fort with
