Velin looked at the somewhat innocent-eyed griffons of the Snow Wind Clan and asked tentatively, "Did you all understand?"
As soon as he said that, two-thirds of the griffons shook their heads on the spot, while the remaining third tilted their heads in confusion.
Xing pushed herself up with her forelegs, sat upright, raised one wing, and said, "Master, I have a question."
"Go ahead."
"Master, you said that human child is your nephew. If we really scare him into crying, you won't hold it against me, right?"
By the end, Xing's voice had grown much quieter as she secretly watched her master's expression.
Hearing Xing's concern, Velin turned to the other Snow Wind Clan griffons and asked, "Do you all think the same way?"
More than three hundred griffons nodded in perfect unison.
Velin cleared his throat and said, "Ahem. Do you really think I'd do something like that?"
"You would."
Xing answered instinctively, her tone utterly certain.
"I was originally going to tell you that as long as you make my nephew cry, every one of you griffons will get a bottle of Glowing Wine. But it seems that won't do."
The moment he finished speaking, all but a few of the Snow Wind Clan griffons widened their eyes, their gazes brimming with anticipation.
"Then let me ask again. Did you understand what I just said?"
Most of the griffons nodded in unison, indicating that they understood.
Leaning against the Tree of Life Sapling, Kyle watched the absurd scene before him and barely managed to keep himself from laughing.
As expected, "wine tasting" would become a fine tradition of the Snow Wind Clan in the future.
