As Danzo launched the Summoning Technique, a cloud of white smoke spread through the Root Organization.

A colossal beast, seven or eight meters tall, appeared beneath Danzo's feet.

It hoisted him high into the air.

It was the legendary Baku.

It resembled an elephant, with a long trunk, beast ears like those of cats and dogs, and short brownish-orange fur covering its entire body.

Its enormous frame exuded an overwhelming sense of oppression.

Kaze was no stranger to this massive creature.

As he remembered, the Baku could open its mouth and unleash Wind Release, sucking its target in and devouring it.

Even Sasuke, while using Susanoo, had been unable to move under its power.

"Baku, get to it."

Standing atop the Baku's head, Danzo spoke in a low voice, telling it to wreak havoc.

Pssh!

The Baku swung its thick, powerful trunk, aimed its nostrils at the ceiling, and sprayed out a burst of steam.

Danzo, meanwhile, vanished from its head with the Body Flicker Technique.

As for the Root ninjas who had intended to support Danzo, they all hesitated and backed away upon seeing the Baku appear.

The Baku not only possessed tremendous strength, but once enraged, it could not distinguish friend from foe.

Afraid of getting caught up in it, all the Root ninjas chose to stay far away.

The next second, a deep, resounding cry rumbled from the Baku's throat.

Its gaze locked firmly onto Kaze as it opened its cavernous jaws and inhaled the air before it!

Kaze suddenly felt a powerful force at his back, trying to shove him into the Baku's enormous mouth.

Uchiha Kiyoshi and the others immediately grew tense.

Danzo was, after all, the Second Hokage's direct disciple. Whether in combat thinking or real battle experience, he was exceptionally accomplished.
