Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Lu Li withdrew his gaze from the Asauchi's information. The ability to inspect the details of items he had acquired was a basic contractual ability granted by End Space.
According to the contract's description, if he passed the Trial World, he would become an official Explorer. At that point, he would also gain a Storage Space, making it much more convenient to store and retrieve the things on his person.
He had arrived in Seireitei at night. With Retsu Unohana's recommendation, he had become a prospective Transfer Student at the True Spirit Arts Academy.
He was called a prospective Transfer Student because he did not yet fully count as a student here. It was not the annual enrollment period for the True Spirit Arts Academy, and he had only been permitted to "transfer in" as a favor to Unohana. The prerequisite was that he pass the Entrance Exam.
He had missed the enrollment season, so the academy would arrange a simple assessment for him separately, merely to complete the formalities.
Clearly, Unohana did not think the Entrance Exam would stump him. Judging by the attitude of the teacher handling his check-in, he had already been treated as one of the academy's students.
Lu Li himself was not so confident, though. While he had read part of the Shinigami manga, he had no idea what the True Spirit Arts Academy's Entrance Exam tested.
If it tested things like Kido, which he knew absolutely nothing about, that would really put him in a difficult spot.
"406..."
Lu Li quietly recited his dormitory number. After confirming the room, he knocked on the door.
The True Spirit Arts Academy offered its students decent accommodations: two people to a room. According to the dorm supervisor, his roommate was a very good person.
Apparently, his roommate had excellent grades and was mild-mannered toward others. If Lu Li did not understand anything later on, he could just ask him.
About ten seconds later, the door opened. The person who answered it was a young man with short brown hair and brown eyes.
Behind his black-rimmed glasses were eyes as gentle as sunlight. He wore a faint smile, looking like a warm, kind-hearted older boy.
Oh, hell.
That was Lu Li's first thought.
He studied the roommate who had opened the door for him. His appearance, demeanor, and the sense of danger detected by his Strongman Radar all pointed to one possibility.
His roommate seemed to be a dangerous figure from the original story... Sōsuke Aizen.
"Classmate, is there something you need?"
The chestnut-haired young man asked.
Lu Li snapped back to his senses. "Hello, I'm Lu Li. I just enrolled, and I've been assigned to this dorm."
"I see."
The young man smiled and introduced himself. "Sōsuke Aizen. Welcome."
As he spoke, he led Lu Li into the dorm and even enthusiastically helped him make his bed.
As they talked, Lu Li became completely certain of his roommate's identity. This seemingly harmless, boy-next-door type was the future Hair Gel Hand, king of smooth talk—the man who could make even a Restraint Suit look far more stylish than Lu Li ever could.
Still, talking with Aizen at this point was quite pleasant. The Aizen before him was every inch the gentle, modest model roommate.
Not only did he help Lu Li make his bed and introduce him to the dorm's facilities, but he also answered many of his questions about the True Spirit Arts Academy without showing the slightest impatience.
No wonder the dorm supervisor had called Aizen a "good kid." His classmates all liked dealing with him.
"By the way, Aizen-senpai, what year are you in?"
Lu Li asked as he sat on his freshly made bed. Since he was here, he might as well settle in. No matter how dangerous Aizen might become in the future, he probably would not do anything major at present. At the very least, he would not dare cause trouble within the True Spirit Arts Academy.
Besides, Lu Li felt that the young Aizen's ambitions were not quite so outrageous yet. He was more interested in the amusement of pretending to be weak while hiding his strength.
"Just call me Sōsuke. I'm not any senior either—I enrolled this year too, just like you."
As he spoke, Aizen handed Lu Li a cup of freshly brewed black tea.
"No wonder we were assigned to the same dorm."
Lu Li suddenly understood. He politely accepted it, then used End Space's appraisal function to take a look. Once he confirmed it was not some "knockout black tea," he took a small sip.
Aizen had told him quite a lot about the True Spirit Arts Academy earlier, and Lu Li had assumed he was already an old hand here. Who would have thought that Aizen had only enrolled this year as well, having studied for just a few months longer than him?
The two chatted for a while longer before lights-out. However, Lu Li noticed that Aizen did not go to sleep after the lights were turned off. Instead, he sat cross-legged on his bed with his Zanpakuto resting across his knees, as if sensing something.
Lu Li guessed this was probably how Shinigami trained to improve themselves. All he could say was that there was a reason Aizen was strong. His talent was already absurdly monstrous, and he still worked his ass off.
As if sensing Lu Li's gaze, Aizen opened his eyes, his smile carrying a hint of apology. "If I'm disturbing your rest, I can go out to the balcony."
Lu Li shook his head with a smile. "It's fine. We might even end up training together someday."
With that, he turned away and closed his eyes, pretending that he had already fallen asleep.
Now that he had safely arrived at the True Spirit Arts Academy, as long as nothing went wrong with tomorrow's entrance examination, his first-stage mission would be complete.
For the time being, he was safe here. He needed to sort through the information he currently possessed.
As he pondered, Lu Li opened the End Space system menu in his mind. He had not had time to explore it during the day for various reasons, so he needed to take a proper look at its contents.
First, aside from attributes, he discovered sections for Bloodline, cultivation methods, skills, specialized abilities, and more.
The cultivation methods tab was empty. In the era he came from, those legendary cultivation methods with peculiar abilities had long since been lost. All he had learned were various techniques.
Some special techniques had been categorized as skills by End Space. He had learned a wide assortment of them, from practical skills to flashy, ornamental ones, so there was no need to dwell on them for now.
The Bloodline tab was empty as well. He had never used any of those companies' technological concoctions, and was a pure human.
The section that interested him most was Talent. Only today did he learn why he had been born with such immense strength.
Talent: Limiter. Initial Release Talent Rating: S (E-~SSS+) Talent Details: Your body's limiter has been partially removed. You possess extremely high growth potential and can break through the original limits of the human body through all kinds of training, gaining tremendous strength. Talent Skill: Limiter Release (Passive): All cultivation/training effects aimed at improving an Explorer's attributes receive a 1000% bonus. Talent Evaluation: Oh my, you aren't going to go bald in the future, are you?
Lu Li found End Space's evaluation a little hard to take. He had no idea what limiters had to do with going bald.
The next day.
A clear spring ran through the hall, while emerald bamboo knocked against stone with crisp chimes.
Sunlight filtered through the paper-pasted window and fell across Lu Li's face, while his eyes remained fixed on the stone platform before him.
There were quite a few young students in the dojo, dressed in white training uniforms and looking at Lu Li curiously.
Yes, he was currently taking the entrance examination.
Although Aizen had said that the True Spirit Arts Academy's entrance examination was simple and that he would certainly pass, Lu Li had not expected it to be this casual.
He had thought they would arrange some secret test for him alone in a little dark room. Apparently, he had overthought it.
According to Teacher Fujimoto, who was responsible for swordsmanship instruction, he only needed to undergo two tests. Once he passed the first Reiwei test, he would officially become a student of the True Spirit Arts Academy.
Moreover, the passing threshold seemed incredibly low to Lu Li. As long as one could trigger a response from the testing device, it meant they had the talent to cultivate Reiatsu and could enroll.
That made sense. In this world, even ordinary Gotei 13 members only had around Level 20 Reiwei. In other words, graduates of the True Spirit Arts Academy generally only possessed Level 20 Reiwei.
Naturally, the True Spirit Arts Academy could not require students to possess Level 20 Reiwei, or even higher, the moment they enrolled. Otherwise, the Gotei 13 would barely be able to recruit any students at all.
Under the slightly curious gazes of the many students, including Aizen, Lu Li stepped forward and placed his hand on the peculiar stone platform.
This device was said to have been developed by Kirio Hikifune, the current Captain of the 12th Division. It could accurately detect a person's Reiatsu level.
To test the talents of new students, ten additional marks had been set beneath the original twenty levels of Reiwei. Reaching the third mark during the test was enough to meet the admission standard.
Lu Li stared at the display atop the stone platform. He was also very curious about just what level of Reiwei he possessed.
