"Celestial" Ego

In the Marvel Main Universe, Ego (EGO—self-awareness) was a sentient planet with immeasurable wisdom. He devoured all energy to grow, and at the very least, his strength ranked among the universe's peak powers, comparable to Dormammu—a being capable of destroying the universe.

But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ego called himself a Celestial.

Though he was likewise planet-shaped, it was established that the celestial body was armor he had forged for himself.

He had fused himself with the planet, hidden his core at its very center, and used the planet as protection. Thus, controlling the planet was no longer an instinct for him, but a form of "piloting" that consumed energy.

In short, he had been severely nerfed by the new version.

But there was no denying that, in either universe, Ego's planet—having survived for who knew how many tens of thousands of years—possessed an unimaginable reserve of energy.

To the natives of this universe, who could only use power rather than create it, that energy was Ego's weapon. They might defeat him, but they could not claim that inheritance.
