Background / History

Leviathan began as a warship transformed into a Seed of Abomination: a flesh-covered undead vessel with human faces and a gaping maw. It annihilated the Krieg Pirates' ships and later devoured a sea beast, growing through flesh fusion and predation. Lowett identified it as a rare creature able to evolve by consuming flesh and blood. 58 59

Initially difficult for Wallace and the Butler to control, Leviathan nevertheless became Lowett's primary vessel. It carried Lowett's crew beneath Reverse Mountain, climbed its edge rather than follow the waterway, and entered the Grand Line as the Black Count's living warship. 61 64 65

At Little Garden, Leviathan fought Dorry and Brogy. Its jaws, limbs, tentacles, defensive bone-face shields, and brute strength forced the giants to cooperate and use Elbaf Spear; Leviathan avoided the combined attack by retracting its limbs and shrinking its body in midair. 69 70

Leviathan repeatedly served as Lowett's siege weapon and predator. It broke through a naval blockade, massacred Foxy's crew for souls, escaped Crocodile's restraints, and rampaged through Baroque Works after being insulted as an idiot. 73 98 102 104

At Thriller Bark, Leviathan consumed the accumulated flesh and blood left by Lowett's assault, including material connected to Moria's zombie forces. This triggered its evolution into a second-stage Seed of Abomination and drew the attention of Emperor Haisan. 138 139 140

Following its evolution, Leviathan gained Labyrinth, becoming both a warship and a hidden Necro-realm hunting ground. It trapped Kuma and later Sea Kings, shrank intruders within its interior, and developed multiple spatial traps that the Black Knights mapped at considerable risk. 141 143 171 175

During the battle against BIG·MOM, Leviathan swallowed her whole, transformed into a flesh-and-blood giant, and physically overwhelmed her in close combat. Its anger was dangerous enough that Lowett himself did not wish to face its attacks directly. 273 279 280

After entering the wider universe, Leviathan grew to a scale exceeding five hundred meters, devoured Chitauri transports during the Battle of New York, learned space jumps through Truth Mimicry, and later consumed all life on Earth at Lowett's command. 643 675 676 725

Appearance

Leviathan's default appearance is that of an organic warship: a vessel of writhing flesh, bone faces, and undead anatomy. Its form is highly mutable, ranging from a seemingly ordinary sailing ship to a giant humanoid abomination. 122 140 279

Despite its monstrous nature, it displays childlike emotions. It becomes enraged when treated as stupid, takes offense at insults, fears Emperor Haisan and the Blood Prison Blade, and seeks Lowett's protection when overwhelmed. 102 104 140 510

It is also notably lazy. After mastering Labyrinth, it preferred effortless hunting; after gaining Truth Mimicry, it chose to disguise itself and wait for prey instead of developing a more active hunting method. 141 670
