The witnesses were Odin's most trusted subordinates. If they were all playing along with Thor, then... there was nothing wrong with acknowledging Thor's claim to the throne.

Chaotic Asgard no longer had its former tranquility. People were running everywhere.

Everyone brought their families. Aside from important personal belongings, they were forbidden from taking anything else and had to evacuate as quickly as possible.

No one understood Hela's power better than the Asgardian warriors who had personally lived through the era when Odin conquered the Nine Realms.

If Odin had not sealed her on Earth, she would have escaped who knew how many years ago and launched a full-scale invasion.

Even now, though they knew she had yet to break free, everyone was still terrified.

Courage and reverence did not conflict. Choices and actions were better proof of courage.

Mistress returned to Asgard amid this chaos. To prevent Death from noticing anything suspicious, not only did she borrow Lowett's power to release the Devouring Mist, but the Emperor did the same.

As she casually moved treasures she liked from the Treasure Room into her Abyss Realm, Mistress tossed over Surtur's Crown. "Take it. This is the most crucial item."

Without turning around, the Emperor raised a hand and caught it. He was sitting cross-legged at the edge of the Eternal Fire, placing it above the flames.

The Emperor had not acted because, when dealing with Surtur, he might have had no choice but to use some highly destructive spells. That could easily leave traces for Death to detect, unlike the Abyss's Devouring Mist, which was clean and efficient. The second reason was this.

To strip the destructive power from the Eternal
