Lowett was certainly nowhere nearby. Though "not far," he was still at least three hundred thousand light-years away from Star-Lord and the others.

However, Thanos had not hidden his power very well.

Even with only a few branches of the Soul Net able to extend that far, Lowett swiftly locked onto Sanctuary, floating in space outside that desert planet.

"The Soul Stone is the only one I can't obtain. Why are you trying to steal the Power Stone?" Lowett shook his head.

He had only two ways to obtain the Soul Stone: either gather the other five Infinity Stones and attempt to forcibly break through the barrier, something like a seal that required "exchanging one's beloved"; or try to recreate a blank soul, implant memories into it, and pull off a switch.

So, once Death had made her plan, he immediately abandoned his original plan of gathering all the Infinity Stones.

Both options required enormous amounts of time to test and carry out. He simply did not have that opportunity.

But the Power Stone was different. It was stored inside the Cosmic Orb, and anyone could take it.

"Stop arguing! They're attacking again!" Gamora shouted, raising her energy rifle.
