Background / History
Tang San grew up unaware that his father, Tang Hao, was the Clear Sky Douluo and an heir of the Clear Sky Sect. Yu Xiaogang eventually revealed Tang Hao's identity and explained that Tang San possessed Twin Martial Souls: Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. After learning of Tang Hao's apparent death and the danger surrounding the Clear Sky Sect, Tang San vowed to conceal the hammer until he was powerful enough to seek revenge. 109
His attachment to Xiao Wu repeatedly shapes his actions. During Shrek's match against Heaven Dou, her severe injuries drove him to use the Eight Spider Lances to incapacitate opponents and threaten Ye Lingling into healing her. 77 His identity later exposed him to widespread hostility in Spirit City; he was forced to kneel in apology, attacked by numerous Soul Masters, and beaten while restrained by control-type skills. 165 166
Under the pressure of a death curse, humiliation, and resentment, Tang San's Blue Silver Grass darkened and evolved. He blamed Yu Xiaogang's Soul Ring choices for delaying his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, yet used spiritual manipulation to compel Yu Xiaogang to seek a way to save him. 167 170
After his death or displacement, Tang San's soul entered Tang Chen's Spirit World in Slaughter City. There, he absorbed the power lost during Tang Chen's battle against the King of Slaughter, seized half control of the Spirit World, and sought control of Tang Chen's body as a means to revive and gain power for revenge. 184 186
As the Sea God, Tang San increasingly interfered with the development of the Douluo Continent and the rise of potential rivals. His conflict with Zhu Zhuqing became open hostility after she uncovered his restrictions and challenged his control. 433 524 525
Appearance
During his battle frenzy, Tang San's eyes become scarlet and his Eight Spider Lances give him a demonic appearance. His later Martial Soul evolution also alters his appearance, while his strengthened spirit form manifests dark-red wings and a spiritual hammer. 77 170 186
- Scarlet, killing-intent-filled eyes when enraged. 77
- Eight Spider Lances protruding from his back in combat. 77
- A rune-like eye appears between his brows when activating Bewitching Divine Light. 161
- His Spirit World form can manifest dark-red wings and a dark-red Clear Sky Hammer. 186
Personality
Tang San is intensely protective of Xiao Wu and willing to endanger or threaten others when she is injured. In combat, he can be cold and ruthless, prioritizing her safety over tournament norms or his opponents' well-being. 77 175
His core motivation becomes revenge after Tang Hao's presumed death and the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect. Humiliation and loss repeatedly intensify his resentment; he nearly loses control after being forced to kneel and later develops hatred toward both the Clear Sky Sect and Yu Xiaogang for the consequences of his lineage and training. 109 165 166 170
As a god, Tang San is portrayed as calculating and controlling. He withholds complete inheritances, suppresses opportunities that could create future rivals, and employs divine power, disguises, or other people—including Tang Wutong—as instruments of his plans. 524 565 577
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass—later evolved into Blue Silver King—and the Clear Sky Hammer, the foremost tool-type Martial Soul.
- Conceals the Clear Sky Hammer because its exposure would make him a target. 109
- Revealed the Clear Sky Hammer and used the Falling Wind Hammer Method against the Star Luo Royal Academy team. 175
- Blue Silver King is stated to be at least three times stronger than his original Blue Silver Grass. 170
Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver King
His plant Martial Soul serves as a control, restraint, absorption, and projectile platform.
- Blue Silver Grass Entangle bound Ao Siluo to create an opening for Xiao Wu. 77
- Drains teammates' Soul Power to temporarily strengthen Tang San. 174
- Can launch Hidden Weapons, though the plant-based projectiles were largely ineffective due to their fragility. 175
- Its autonomous evolution incorporated defensive traits from Soul Beasts whose rings he had absorbed. 168
Clear Sky Hammer Techniques
Tang San uses the Clear Sky Hammer's inherited techniques when direct force is necessary.
- Falling Wind Hammer Method — deployed after revealing the Clear Sky Hammer; it was countered by the Nether White Tiger. 175
- He later restricted information about Ring Detonation, refusing to pass it down within the Clear Sky Sect. 524
Mysterious Heaven Skill and Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San retains techniques from his previous life and uses them alongside Soul Master abilities.
- Mysterious Jade Hand — caught and redirected the Shi Mo brothers' Turtle Shell shields, though doing so caused internal injuries. 77
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — can produce highly realistic afterimages; while controlling Tang Wutong's body, he used it at a level beyond Tang Lan's mastery. 577 578
- Purple Demon Eye — one of the few Tang Sect techniques he did not alter before passing it down. 577
- Later passed down incomplete versions of Mysterious Heaven Skill and several other Tang Sect inheritances. 524 565
Hidden Weapons
Tang San employs mechanical and improvised Hidden Weapons, although they are limited by circumstance.
- Used mechanical Hidden Weapons against the curse in his shadow, but they could not affect an incorporeal target. 161
- Tournament rules prohibited weapons other than Martial Souls, severely reducing his combat strength. 157
- Uses thrown objects and Tang Sect weapon techniques while acting through Tang Wutong. 577
Eight Spider Lances
A Soul Bone-derived offensive weapon formerly used as Tang San's primary combat method.
- Enabled him to pressure and incapacitate the Shi Mo brothers and Yu Feng. 77
- Was removed from his unconscious body by Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan. 110
- Its loss left him without a key offensive option during the tournament. 157
Spiritual Power
Tang San possesses potent mental abilities and uses them for attack, control, and spiritual absorption.
- Bewitching Divine Light — channels Spiritual Power through a Head Soul Bone for a mental attack. 161
- Manipulated Yu Xiaogang through an enchanting, bewitching effect carried through eye contact. 170
- Absorbed Spiritual Power from Tang Chen and the King of Slaughter's clash, eventually surpassing their combined spiritual strength. 186
- Uses Divine Sense to search memories and monitor events on the Douluo Continent. 525 572
Divine Authority
As the Sea God, Tang San can project power into the Mortal Realm and impose or interfere with divine inheritances.
- Sent an attack toward Zhu Zhuqing's God Trial, which her inheritance mark blocked. 524
- Attempted to interfere with Zhu Zhuqing's Faith Power and successor; a golden lightning strike from the God Realm Core severely injured him. 525
- Bestowed the Sea God's Inheritance upon Du Busi, whose trial required finding the Sea God Trident or facing death. 594
- Used Immobile Storm to immobilize Qian Renxue and attempted Twilight of the Gods, the ultimate Sea God's Thirteen Halberds skill, against Zhu Zhuqing. 589

- Tang Hao — father; the Clear Sky Douluo whose apparent death drives Tang San's vengeance. 109
- Tang Chen — great-grandfather; initially protected Tang San in the Spirit World, then allowed him to inherit an opportunity rather than let the King of Slaughter control his body. 184 186
- Xiao Wu — close companion and major emotional weakness; Tang San becomes reckless when she is harmed, while she repeatedly worries for and protects him. 77 109 175
- Yu Xiaogang — teacher; revealed Tang San's lineage and advised concealment, but Tang San later resented and mentally controlled him to secure help. 109 170
