At that moment, Changbai was barely holding on under the Kaiju's frenzied assault.

"Viper" was incredibly fast, and the seawater provided it with a second layer of cover. Like a water snake, it rose and dipped across the ocean surface, repeatedly launching sneak attacks at Changbai's joints and weak points in its armor.

"Fuck!" Sethi's face was full of fury. The enemy's body was impossibly slippery, and its movements were bizarre. During the past ten-odd minutes of battle, Changbai had barely even touched "Viper's" skin, while he himself had been battered and scarred all over.

"It just knows how to run!" Seizing an opening, Sethi raised the massive axe in his right hand over his head, ready to bring it down hard. But once again, he had underestimated "Viper's" speed—it suddenly accelerated, its slender body shooting straight between Changbai's legs!

Sethi was shocked. He twisted at the waist, desperate to turn around, but "Viper" did not slip away after passing beneath Changbai—it extended its tail and wrapped it around Changbai's left foot. Changbai's enormous frame immediately lost its balance and crashed heavily onto the ocean floor. Sethi fell backward as well, slamming directly onto the motion platform.

When Sethi was little, he often heard Raleigh Beckett complain about his old injuries. Of them all, Sethi remembered the back pain most clearly. Back then, old Raleigh would often be drenched in sweat, clutching his waist with one hand and bracing himself against a wall with the other, looking like he was in unbearable agony.

Sethi had never understood what his teacher meant by "it fucking hurts." But now—when he heard a distinct crack from his waist—Sethi felt that he fully understood the meaning of those words.
