Healing Art 1 After treating thousands of people and fulfilling their desire for health, he comprehended Healing Art. 1
Prophetic Power 17 Fulfilling the King and Queen's wish to see the future granted him a sliver of true prophecy, allowing vague observation of distant or future scenes when supported by a suitable medium. 17
Sea Hag’s Alchemy 46 Received a complete copy of the Sea Hag's alchemical expertise; combining it with his own knowledge made him a potion master surpassing the Sea Hag. 46
Scepter of the Sea 96 The combined wishes surrounding the Sea Kingdom and West Asia Kingdom alliance condensed into the Scepter of the Sea, granting Rhine overwhelming authority over the sea, storms, wind, lightning, and whirlpools. 96
Legendary Magician 158 The accumulated Power of Wishes reached a qualitative threshold, elevating Rhine to a Legendary Magician comparable to Maleficent; he could amplify his existing spells to kingdom-scale effects. 158

Background / History

Rhine was a sickly child in his previous life who spent much of his life in the hospital and died before reaching adulthood. He awakened in a different world with an unchanging youthful body, magical talent, and memories of Earth. His lack of physical aging led him to suspect that he had become immortal or exceptionally long-lived. 1 127

His power developed through the wishes he fulfilled. Helping ordinary people granted only small amounts of the Will of Wishes, while aiding a “Child of Destiny” produced far greater rewards. Before entering the Rose Kingdom's court, Rhine spent three years treating commoners for little or no payment, building a reputation as a miraculous healer. 1

The King and Queen of the Rose Kingdom summoned him because they had remained childless for years. Rhine treated them, prescribed the blessing of a speaking aquatic animal as the missing condition for conception, and accurately foretold that they would have a daughter with a legendary destiny. 2 3

Appearance

Rhine appears to be a delicate, handsome boy of roughly twelve or thirteen, despite having spent many years in the fairy-tale world without visibly aging. 1 35

  • Silver hair, usually concealed beneath a hood. 1
  • Pale blue eyes described as clear and cold. 1
  • Extremely pale, nearly translucent skin. 1
  • Commonly wears long hooded Magician's robes or a silver-white cloak. 3 140
  • Small, slender build; his robes were once too long for his frame. 3

Personality

Rhine is fundamentally compassionate and habitually helps those in need, from impoverished patients to endangered kingdoms. He tends to treat his intervention as practical problem-solving rather than heroism, but repeatedly chooses outcomes that preserve lives and improve people’s circumstances. 1 110 167

He is calm under pressure, analytical, and willing to exploit an opponent’s weaknesses, misunderstandings, or emotional attachments. His methods can be manipulative—such as impersonating the Middle Eastern Witch’s lover through magical perfume—but he uses them to avert disasters or obtain vital information. 123 163 164

For much of his journey, Rhine is emotionally detached, feeling more like a visitor passing through stories than someone who belongs in their world. Aurora forces him to confront this detachment, leading him to acknowledge his deepest wish: returning to Earth and seeing his family again. 127

Abilities & Skills

Wish Magician

Rhine grows stronger by participating in the fulfillment of others’ wishes and absorbing their Will of Wishes.

  • Helping ordinary people grants limited power, while aiding Children of Destiny provides far greater rewards. 1
  • Rewards can manifest as new spells, magical knowledge, or physical magical items. 46 63
  • His fulfilled wishes eventually accumulated enough power for a breakthrough into the Legendary Magician realm. 130 158
  • Before leaving, Rhine passes the Wish Magician ability to Aurora and trains her as its successor. 175

Healing Art and Alchemy

Rhine is an accomplished healer and potion-maker whose abilities developed from years of treating the sick and injured.

  • Uses Healing Art to restore health and mend injuries. 1
  • Creates effective herbal remedies and magical potions for illness, fractures, poison, and severe wounds. 1 68
  • After integrating the Sea Hag’s alchemy, he can treat poisoning and mortal injuries so long as the victim has not died immediately. 46 68
  • Brewed Ariel a mermaid-to-human potion with fewer side effects than the Sea Hag’s version, preserving Ariel’s voice and preventing painful transformation. 48 49
  • Can create potions for humans to become merfolk as well as merfolk to become human. 71 95

Prophecy and Divination

Rhine uses prophecy to investigate threats, reveal hidden events, and steer fate.

  • His prophetic visions are vague without adequate information or a suitable medium. 17
  • Uses a deep-sea Crystal Ball to review past events and perform enhanced divinations. 60
  • Anticipated the Old Witch’s attack on Aurora and prepared an evasive response in advance. 68
  • Used indirect surveillance through the Magic Mirror to reconstruct Magridore and the Eastern Witch’s plans. 141
  • Successfully divined that the Witch Council Head knew how to return to Earth, though the attempt damaged his Crystal Ball through backlash. 128

Transformation and Mobility Magic

Rhine possesses extensive transformation and movement magic.

  • Publicly transformed into an eagle and back, proving his legitimacy before the Rose Kingdom court. 6
  • Can transform into animals, including a fly for infiltration and a dragon when confronting the Taoist. 163 174
  • Uses Teleportation to evade attacks, reposition himself, and extract allies from danger. 68 123
  • Uses the Silver Shoes to travel continent-wide in three steps after identifying a destination. 162
  • Can exchange places with another target through a voodoo doll, which he used to escape Magridore’s lethal Gourd trap. 141

Summoning and Retrieval

Rhine can call upon magical creatures and retrieve objects he has previously touched.

  • Learns to summon touched items from afar after fulfilling the Soldier’s wish to recover the Tinderbox. 48
  • Cannot retrieve objects that are excessively large, but can use the ability tactically to disarm opponents. 87
  • Removed Antolin’s enchanted armor in battle, allowing Aurora to defeat him. 87
  • Summons the Tinderbox’s three Big Dogs for tracking, combat, and intimidation. 68 89 123
  • Commands a Ring Elf to relocate targets. 163

Legendary Magic

After his advancement, Rhine can magnify his magic into large-scale spells.

  • Animated an entire forest and mountain range to oppose Maleficent. 161
  • Easily identified and countered Magridore’s curses and magical items after reaching the Legendary Magician realm. 159
  • Can use his understanding of enemy mechanisms to dismantle otherwise dangerous magic. 88 159

Scepter of the Sea

The Scepter of the Sea is Rhine’s strongest known magical item and is at its full strength over water.

  • Summons vast storms, gales, lightning, tsunamis, and sea whirlpools. 96
  • Grants Rhine a decisive advantage against Legendary Magicians while at sea. 141
  • Created a storm spanning approximately the size of the White Kingdom during his confrontation with Maleficent and the Eastern Witch. 141
  • Used lake water to force the Eastern Witch’s dragon form from the air and prevent her from flying again. 123

Rose Kingdom and Aurora’s Curse

Rhine enters the Rose Kingdom before the Sleeping Beauty story begins, helps the royal couple conceive, names their daughter Aurora, and becomes the kingdom’s Court Magician and Sage. When Maleficent curses Aurora and threatens the entire kingdom, Rhine uses his final Blessing to create a path toward survival and organizes Aurora’s training in secrecy. 2 4 12 19

He helps Ariel and Eric overcome the Old Witch’s schemes, reveals that Ariel already possesses an Immortal Soul, and assists in establishing an alliance between the Sea Kingdom and West Asia Kingdom. The alliance’s accumulated wishes later form the Scepter of the Sea. 84 91 92 96

Eastern Witch, Magridore, and Maleficent

Magridore captures Rhine in a Gourd intended to reduce him to blood within two hours, but Rhine substitutes the Old Witch’s Wraith for himself and returns to the sea battlefield. 132 140 141

Land of Oz and the Witch Council

After being teleported to Emerald City, Rhine reunites with Oz and accepts him as his disciple. He later reaches the Legendary Magician realm while aiding figures such as Pinocchio and confronting Magridore. 146 149 158 159

Return to Earth

After Aurora questions what Rhine himself desires, he admits that he wishes to return to Earth and reunite with his family. A divination directs him to the Witch Council Head, Ye Ruge. 127 128

Ye Ruge reveals that she is also from Earth and possesses a two-person ritual for opening a path home. Rhine trains Aurora for two months, transfers his Wish Magician ability to her, says farewell to his allies, and begins the cross-world ritual with Ye Ruge. 175 178

Trivia

  • Rhine chose the name Aurora because he recognized it as Sleeping Beauty’s most widely known name across versions of the tale. 4
  • Although his appearance remains that of a young boy, Rhine has lived in the fairy-tale world for well over a decade. 1 140
  • Oz’s stories about Rhine portray him as everything from a giant of flame to a many-headed monster, making Rhine’s ordinary appearance difficult for Emerald City’s soldiers to believe. 147
  • Rhine’s initial wish-related growth came from healing common people rather than from identifying a Child of Destiny. 1
