Adams stared at the holographic image on the strategy table. Beside him, Nicholas, a Storm Discipline Psyker, spoke in a deep, eerie tone.

"The Auger Matrix's scan results show that, geographically, it can be classified as a temperate world, but what I see is flame and death, and what I hear are terrifying death screams."

"Howling storms, more dreadful than the storms that turned Fenris's forge of creation and reshaped the land."

Nicholas studied the holographic image. Unlike Fenris's Sea of Storms, which covered almost the entire planet, Sonem VIII had only a narrow stretch of ocean around its equator.

"This is precisely the world suited to me." The "Necromancer," fully encased in armor and standing in the shadow of deliberately dimmed Lumen Lamps, spoke in an icy voice.

Adams recalled what the Black Emperor had said. "Two highly developed alien races, ruling an entire star system together, began rotting from within, until a devastating war finally erupted."

"After years of war, they ultimately used terrifying weapons and destroyed each other."

"Within minutes, the intelligent life across the entire planet died within minutes. That is the terrifying scream you heard in the Warp."

"I must thank them for their final decision." The Death Lord's cold, emotionless words left Nicholas unable to grasp their meaning.

"The weapons they used left my legion a fortune."

As Adams spoke, he rapidly marked points on the holographic image. He would personally go to the largest Hive City near the equator.

The other nine "Necromancers'" targets were the second through ninth largest Hive Cities, in order.

One thousand four hundred and seventy-three "Spirit Mediums" led teams to the ruins of other Hive Cities and industrial zones.
