Scapegoated

Inside the black Stormbird, Nimrod leaned back against a genuine leather seat. His field of vision was somewhat limited, but his obsidian eyes could still take in most of the main structure of the spherical dockyard.

Below, a group of heavy Transport Ships was passing through in formation. One massive hatch after another opened under the operation of thick cantilever arms, welcoming their arrival.

The Tech Sergeants of the "Shadow of Order" had already moved in. After adaptive modifications, it would serve as a berth for Transport Ships, destroyer-class vessels, and frigate-class vessels.

Though it differed greatly from Imperial standards, the dry dock still had value, just like the other technologies of the Jingyuan Federation.

Among them, what Nimrod valued most was force-field adjustment technology.

The "Shadow of Order" currently possessed three unique force-field protection technologies: Terra's stealth field, the Rangdan Overlord's personal energy shield, and the Squats' Shield-Weave technology.

Those three shields, together with the Thermal Diffraction Field dedicated to the Saturnine Terminator Prototype, were incompatible with one another.

The officers of the "Shadow of Order"—those at captain rank and above—could apply to the Tech Sergeants to have one of the three installed according to their own needs.

If, after mastering the Jingyuan Federation's Force Shield technology, the four force-field protection technologies available to their officers could be adjusted within a certain range, the defensive capabilities of the Shadow of Order would rise by a level.

As the deck trembled, the Stormbird landed inside the dry dock's luxurious hangar.

Nimrod walked down from the deck. Wilshire, lord of the Second Legion, Ramsey, lord of the 10th Battalion, and Zadkiel, Chapter Master of the Word Bearers' "Scions of the Quill," were already standing in attendance on the landing pad.

"My lord."

Nimrod gave a slight nod, accepting everyone's salutes.
