Breathing Room

The dimensional travel, the Space Gate, and the golden flames from before—every sign convinced Sui Yang that this was the God-Emperor of Mankind's handiwork.

Where there was the God-Emperor of Mankind, there was the Warp and the daemonic gods. Faced with such Chaotic filth, humanity needed ample breathing room.

In a world like Warhammer 40,000, humanity had been "locked down" in every possible way. Other than endless war, there was only boundless despair and darkness. Peace and stability simply did not exist; death was the best destination.

And there was a certain possibility that the Warp involved the multiverse. There were countless transmigrators in Warhammer 40,000.

Compared to that, the Main Universe, with only Vought and other threats, was practically a "paradise." Even if it would eventually be affected by the Warp, humanity still had tens of thousands of years to develop.

Thus, Sui Yang had reason to believe that the God-Emperor of Mankind had swept him into the Main Universe, granted him immortality, self-healing, physical abilities far beyond ordinary humans, and his newly acquired ability to open a Space Gate in the hope that he would gradually strengthen humanity in the Main Universe.

Once humanity in the Main Universe could break free of Warp travel and become a technologically advanced species on par with, or even stronger than, the Necrons, the Space Gate's destination would surely be the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Sui Yang simply did not understand why the God-Emperor of Mankind had chosen him of all people...

Honestly, after realizing that the Emperor had pulled a few strings to make that truck lose control and hit him with a "Time to transmigrate, kid!" from deep inside, he had been extremely resistant to it.

Even the great truth of "well, I'm already here" could not calm him down.

After all, he had spent eight years in the military, collected his discharge pay, and had finally been able to happily head home for hot pot. Who would have thought that after closing and opening his eyes, he would have transmigrated? And there was a very high chance he was just a tool?!

Anyone would have been pissed.

Still, more than a century of experience had made that unnecessary emotion last only a moment.

Of course, it was not as though he had gained nothing. Besides, deep down, he also held convictions like "for humanity" and "common prosperity."

Fortunately, he had watched Edge of Tomorrow countless times and could practically recite its dialogue. When Rita Vrataski explained William Cage's condition to Dr. Carter, she had said, "He's me, before Verdun."

This showed that Rita Vrataski had gone through the Battle of Verdun hundreds or thousands of times through [Reset]. Yet at this stage, everyone else viewed her as a "first-time combatant." She had accomplished the feat of taking on a hundred enemies alone, but after being wounded and falling unconscious, a blood transfusion at a field hospital had caused her to lose her ability.

Having confirmed the point in time when Rita Vrataski lost [Reset], the next step was figuring out how to seize it.

In the film, Omega had given William Cage a false vision of itself being at the Canella Dam in Germany in order to lure him into a trap.

Cage had luckily died after falling into the trap. Once he reset, he used the "reader" developed by Dr. Carter to successfully obtain Omega's true location—

The Louvre in Paris.

Near the end of the film, Cage also lost his Reset ability. Yet thanks to protagonist luck, a lone squad of fewer than ten people successfully broke into Paris and claimed the true victory.

But Sui Yang, who knew the plot, did not need to go to such lengths as the protagonists. He only needed to organize troops and launch a surprise attack on Paris.

France bordered Germany, which had been the first to fall, and humanity of Earth-01 had been at war with the Mimics for five years. France had long since become a no-man's-land.

However, this operation required Sui Yang's personal involvement.

It was not because Sui Yang was reckless, nor because his blood was running hot...

Although in his younger days, Arthur Morgan and the cowboys of the West had called him "Death on Horseback" or "Monster Strength," and he had often wiped out entire gangs by himself, that had all been back in the nineteenth century.

Theoretically, it was possible to send technicians to collect Omega's blood and bring it back to the Main Universe. The entire process merely required them not to kill Alpha or Omega.

But setting aside the manpower and resources that would consume, there were too many possible complications along the way, and it would draw the United Defense Force's attention and obstruction.

Therefore, the best plan was for him to travel to Paris with his trusted men.

Moreover, the [Reset] mechanism applied only to a single universe and could not affect the Main Universe.

Even if they failed, they could bomb Paris within twenty-four hours and force Omega to [Reset], turning time back to before the operation began.

Personnel in the Main Universe could preserve the communications and video transmitted back by wired relay stations. Once [Reset] occurred, they could pass the information to Sui Yang. In a sense, he would possess all the memories from before the [Reset] as well.

A failed operation would certainly make finding Omega far more difficult, but it was still far from irreversible.

If the operation succeeded, then Sui Yang, Atlas, and even humanity in the Main Universe would have a certain margin for error when facing extremely dangerous threats.

Having finished thinking, Sui Yang began operating the mouse and keyboard again, and a map of Western Europe appeared on the screen.

There was protagonist luck in the film. William Cage had managed to kill Omega with only Rita and J Squad. While Sui Yang also believed that his luck far surpassed that of ordinary people, he preferred to prioritize caution in combat and preparations.

With neither moonlight nor streetlamps to provide illumination, the darkness seemed kneaded into a single mass, making it difficult to discern one's direction.

If someone hid indoors, lay beneath warm blankets, closed their eyes, and listened to the rain, it would instead bring an immense sense of security and comfort.

Boom! Boom!

The roar of engines and the noise generated by rotors shattered the tranquility of the area.

A helicopter formation composed of four black-painted UH-1H Hueys, one CH-53E Sea Stallion, and one AH-1W Super Cobra serving as escort was flying low and swiftly westward.

Every helicopter bore a conspicuous red "Λ" emblem, indicating that the formation belonged to Atlas.

For a massive corporation involved in numerous fields, possessing military vehicles was perfectly ordinary. The fourteen-by-fourteen-meter Space Gate was also large enough for Atlas engineers to transport the fuselages and wings to Earth-01 and quickly assemble them.

As for the formation's destination, it was the Louvre in Paris, still twenty kilometers away.
