Psychic Power and [Descent]

Confirming there were no enemies below, two of the mercenaries surrounding the edge of the pit immediately unslung the small equipment cases from their backs.

They popped the latches.

The two men pulled out the components and assembled them with practiced speed, setting up a rope descent system at the edge of the pit in less than half a minute.

At this moment, Sui Yang and the aforementioned officer walked to the edge of the collapsed pit.

Without a word, the two squads rappelled down into the parking garage below, dispersing and taking up defensive positions the moment their boots touched the ground.

Sui Yang and the officer followed closely behind, completing their own descent.

After landing and steadying himself, Sui Yang scanned the area. Seeing nothing but dust-covered, abandoned vehicles and not a single Mimic grunt in sight, he returned his 1911 to its holster.

He then unslung a specialized 60mm "grenade" launcher from his back—a weapon resembling an M79, but far more tactical and modernized.

Gripping the launcher, Sui Yang and the officer led the others in moving with light steps toward the more open area of the parking garage.

While seeking cover behind a load-bearing pillar, Sui Yang spotted the water-filled pit from the film, which emitted a faint blue glow, as well as the Alpha currently on patrol.

Sui Yang leaned his back against the pillar and took a few deep breaths. Although he was long past the age of charging into the fray himself and had grown accustomed to life and death, he couldn't help but feel a slight tension at this moment, knowing that a single strike would decide the outcome.

However, it was mostly adrenaline, driving his body into a state of heightened readiness.

The officer standing to Sui Yang's right poked his head out, seemingly observing the Alpha's movements, and signaled the number "three" to the two squads.

Then, the officer turned to Sui Yang and whispered with a smile, "See you yesterday, Boss."

"See you yesterday." Sui Yang raised his left hand and gave the man's shoulder a light pat.

With that, the officer and the six mercenaries charged out from cover. They hammered their gun butts against the vehicles to create a racket and shouted at the distant Alpha, "Hey! You son of a bitch! Look over here!"

With such intense noise and so many moving targets, it was impossible for the Alpha not to be drawn in.

"ROAR!"

As if provoked, the Alpha crossed dozens of meters in the blink of an eye, extending multiple tentacles that mimicked metallic bone spurs to strike at the officer.

Squelch!

The hard, sharp tentacles easily pierced the human body, pinning the officer to the ground.

"Cough!" The mortally wounded officer spat out blood, but he felt no fear. Instead, he used his remaining strength to raise his hands, gripping the bone spur tightly as he laughed.

"Ha... haha...! You ugly thing!"

From the officer's perspective, he could see Sui Yang moving with such incredible speed that he looked like a blur, already leaping into the water pit.

"ROAR!"

Rip!

Completely distracted and enraged by the taunts, the Alpha had no idea what was happening behind it and tore the officer apart.

But before the Alpha could turn to investigate, it was faced with the remaining six mercenaries, who surrounded it and actively "rushed to their deaths"...

Sui Yang gripped the launcher tightly in his right hand, while his left hand grabbed onto protruding rebar or walls, his legs kicking in a scissor motion to dive rapidly.

The massive, anemone-like Omega.

Its core was a rotating, spherical object about three meters in diameter, with faint blue light spilling out from the gaps in its outer shell.

Seeing this, Sui Yang swam to the top of the Omega, aimed the launcher at the core, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

After the 60mm grenade left the barrel, its tail thruster ignited, carving a trail of bubbles through the water as it drilled into the core...

BOOM!

The violent explosion not only shattered the core into pieces but also accelerated the dispersion of the ink-blue blood.

Sui Yang, caught in the blast wave, tumbled uncontrollably for a moment before stabilizing his body.

But as he discarded the launcher and continued to swim deeper, intending to follow William Cage's path—immersing himself in the Omega's blood to let it seep into his body—he noticed that the dark underwater environment had suddenly brightened.

However...

The light illuminating the water wasn't the faint blue of the Omega's core, but a pale golden glow.

Most importantly, Sui Yang's entire body was now covered in a faint golden light... and the source was actually him!

The scattered ink-blue blood seemed affected by this anomaly; instead of drifting with the current, it began to gather upward, swirling around Sui Yang.

Finally, the dark blue blood was completely "absorbed" by Sui Yang.

At this moment, Sui Yang felt as if his head were splitting, but the symptom did not last long before he felt... comfortable? Or rather, a sense of lightness throughout his entire body.

Furthermore, there was an indescribable sensation; as long as he willed it...

A white light suddenly erupted, forcing Sui Yang to squeeze his eyes shut, simultaneously causing him to lose all perception of the outside world.

This proved that his [Reset] was both a passive "skill" and something that could be actively deployed according to his will.

Moreover, the fact that he could plunder the Omega's blood in its entirety, and that his body had been enveloped in pale golden light, indirectly—no, directly—confirmed that he had indeed acquired psychic powers.

When he completed the blood-dripping ritual and opened the first spatial gate, Sui Yang had been able to vaguely perceive the emotions nearby; at first, he couldn't be certain, but now...

Thinking of this, he raised his left hand and rubbed his throbbing temples hard.

Having knowledge of Warhammer 30k/40k, Sui Yang knew that psychic power was a double-edged sword, and once one suffered a backlash, even death would be a luxury.

Most importantly, Sui Yang was not sure if he had manifested a projection in the Warp.

It was common knowledge that when a psyker used their powers, their soul in the Warp was like a bright flame.

One of the many reasons Sui Yang plundered [Reset] was so that, like William Cage in the movie, he could "grind experience" and "find walkthroughs" infinitely for the sake of victory and a way out.

But [Reset] was simply not enough when faced with the Warp.

Although there was a 99% chance his psychic powers came from the God-Emperor of Mankind, one could not rule out the schemes of the "prankster" Tzeentch; anything was possible, so one had to prepare for the worst.

At the very least, with the [Reset] ability, he and Atlas had room for trial and error. Coupled with the fact that the investigators had already begun their operations in an orderly fashion, he believed it wouldn't be long before the technology of the UDF was completely in his grasp.
