Wanda was born in Sokovia in February 1990 alongside her twin brother, Pietro. During a HYDRA attack on Sokovia, Hawking saved Wanda, Pietro, and their parents from a missile strike. Hawking was subsequently adopted into the Maximoff household, becoming the dependable older brother Wanda quickly grew attached to. 2 3 297

Wanda and Pietro were identified as potential mutants when Professor X visited their home. Wanda’s early power manifested as telekinetic control over objects, while the family later relocated to the United States and enrolled the children at Xavier’s Mutant School. 5 6 17
