Chapter Summaries

Shamu discussed plans for the returning Uchiha with Third Elder Takuya, then met Nagato in person to discuss the Akatsuki’s coming tailed-beast hunt and the dangers of Nagato’s plan to fuse with Hashirama Cell Solution. Shamu revealed that Karatachi Yagura and the Three-Tails were already dead, leaving Nagato unable to collect all the tailed beasts as planned.

• Third Elder Takuya asked Shamu to find work for the idle Uchiha, and Shamu said he would have Orochimaru bring them back to the village before an upcoming mission.

Obito learned that Cloud Village was preparing to move against the weakened Hidden Mist Village and decided Akatsuki could use the coming conflict to collect tailed beasts and spread war. In the Mountain Graveyard, talk of choosing a Fifth Hokage stirred Danzo from his coma, and he declared himself Hokage.

• Obito visited the Mountain Graveyard, where Zetsu reported that Danzo's modified arm had a low Wood Release fusion rate and that Konoha's sannin had returned.
• Zetsu told Obito that Shamu had become Uchiha clan head, sent Itachi and Shisui to Hidden Sound Village, and left Konoha politically constrained.
• Zetsu explained that Cloud Village was probing Hidden Mist Village, and Obito decided Akatsuki should exploit the conflict to capture tailed beasts and draw other nations into war.

Yakushi Kabuto led the Hidden Sound Village group through repeated bounty-hunter attacks, then separated from the Sound Four to travel alone. Near the Land of Rice Fields, he encountered Kakuzu and his Earth Grudge Fear constructs.

• Kabuto's group defeated fifteen bounty hunters, and Kabuto healed Jirobo's wound with the Mystical Palm Technique.
• Kabuto told the Sound Four that they were too weak to travel with him and left the group alone.
• The remaining Hidden Sound Village members entered the Land of Rice Fields without further incident as Kabuto traveled ahead in stealth.

Before leaving, Shamu asked Hizashi to transfer his Yachi shops to Orochimaru’s people and arrange for Naruto and Sasuke to receive a particular mission; Hizashi planned to discuss the warning with his elder brother.

Obito failed to control or remove the statue, and Konan’s Paper Clone continued the assault until a third of the statue had been destroyed and it howled in pain.

• In the Land of Mud, Shamu followed Yoya from above and spotted signs that Hiruko’s Summoning Beasts were watching him.
• Snake One and Dog Two attacked Yoya with their Summoning Beasts, but Yoya burned the snakes and wounded the dog before fighting them himself.

• Danzo warned Kaito that the Spore Techniques had been activated and that Hayato had taken most of the Military Police Force away, so they needed to seize the moon-travel method before Kaito was exposed.
• Kaito and Danzo disguised as a Hyuga clansman entered the First Elder’s room, where Kaito used the spores to drain the First Elder’s Chakra and Danzo restrained him with Wood Release.
