Elysia, watching the show, stretched her waist. "Ah, it's over just like that? I thought there'd be a fight."
Eden smiled and shook her head, taking another sip of wine.
After a long pause, Eden slowly spoke, "Ellie, do you miss him too?"
"Oh, Eden, what are you talking about?" the girl feigned surprise. "My dear Eden, you've always been my favorite, you know."
Bounty Deadline & On-Shelf Announcement
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow marks the day this book goes on sale.
The author isn't exactly new to Ci Yuan Mao. While my previous book on Ci Yuan Mao wasn't a complete success, it did get finished. And this time, at least up to this point, the author has been writing smoothly.
Everyone reads for entertainment, and the author will do their best to provide that, so don't worry about any instances of being fed garbage at crucial moments.
I apologize for the previous twenty-eight chapters concerning Bronya; I didn't handle the transition well. However, those were necessary foreshadowing elements and cannot be changed. Additionally, I will be incorporating some original interpretations of Changkong City based on plot developments and referencing Guns Girl Z, as there's very little information available about Changkong City in Honkai Impact 3rd. But I guarantee that what I write won't create a barrier to entry for readers.
This book is a harem, and I won't dwell on that.
In short, you've already seen what this book is like from the free chapters. Since you've made it this far, please give me your first subscription tomorrow and show your support.
This is actually quite important to the author.
As of writing this on-shelf announcement, the book's performance has gone from "utterly dismal" to "barely passable."
Monthly votes: 1392, Recommendation votes: 12321, Rewards: 2476, Blades: 154
According to the bounty rules, I owe 10,000 words for monthly votes and 6,000 words for recommendation votes. Adding the 4,000 words I was already scheduled to update, I will release 20,000 words tomorrow in one go. If there are any extra words, it means I've started a burst of updates.
The on-shelf chapters will be released around 10:30 AM tomorrow.
I wonder if everyone's Cat Coins will be enough to support it.
In any case, the author has proven through the free chapters that they can write this book well.
So, I hope everyone will continue to support the author's writing.
For now, a free blade, and tomorrow, a first subscription.

Chapter 59: The Popular Chen Ran, The True Flame-Chaser (4k, seeking subscriptions!)
During the outbreak of the Fourth Honkai War, an impromptu meeting was convened at the Flame-Chaser headquarters.
Almost all the high-ranking officials from each research institute were present, except for Mobius.
And there was only one reason for their assembly.
"Everyone, MEI should have completed her rotations through your respective research institutes by now," the leader, seated in the center, spoke with a heavy voice. "I want to hear your evaluations of her."
Simultaneously.
Within the Flame-Chaser organization, Durandal trailed behind MEI, showing off.
"Hooray! I've successfully predicted the Fourth Honkai War. Now I can try to predict where the next beautiful person will appear."
This self-learning computer, transformed into a small figurine with blue eyes and golden hair, chattered incessantly beside MEI. "You promised me you wouldn't obstruct me in this regard."
MEI could only sigh at this biological computer that had somehow gone off the rails. "When did you become like this?"
Durandal clenched her small fists and mimicked a human gesture of encouragement. "Lewdness is the motivation for learning!"
MEI: "Forget it."
She led Durandal to the Flame-Chaser's Administration Department.
"I am MEI, here to claim my independent laboratory."
The Flame-Chaser did not possess the ability to predict Honkai outbreaks; otherwise, the Third Honkai War would not have been so devastating.
Using satellites to predict Honkai outbreaks was merely an excuse used by the Flame-Chaser. In reality, this was accomplished not by the Flame-Chaser, but by Durandal.
Her learning module played a crucial role.
When Durandal was initially created, the Mu Continent approached it with the mindset of "this will be the first self-learning biological computer; we must make it the best."
Therefore, her body was made of expensive Soul Steel, and her learning module consisted of highly efficient, specialized chips. Even though she learned human knowledge from scratch, her learning ability was not inferior; in fact, her memory and comprehension surpassed over 99% of humans.
The original purpose of the Mu Continent in creating this biological computer was to more rapidly deduce the "unknowns of humanity" from the "knowns of humanity."
In other words, Durandal's important mission was to learn, understand, and master knowledge related to the Honkai.
Currently, the results were very encouraging.
She could now predict the arrival of large-scale Honkai outbreaks half a month in advance, which, for the Flame-Chaser, was already of immense significance just for its early warning capability.
As the frontline organization fighting the Honkai, every large-scale Honkai outbreak was a test for the Flame-Chaser.
However, when MEI reported the time and location of the Fourth Honkai War, she faced the same thing many people would: doubt.
She was too junior.
Despite receiving excellent evaluations during her rotations through various research institutes, her overall performance and theoretical knowledge had reached a remarkably high level. She had even managed to obtain a 'Doctorate' in her spare time.
Yet, she still faced doubt.
Although the greatest taboo among the Flame-Chasers was to define the limits of a genius with the eyes of a mortal, the higher-ups still instinctively criticized MEI, deeming the prediction of Honkai an impossible feat.
In response, MEI didn't engage in a heated debate. Instead, she made a bet with the higher-ups.
She wagered her father, promising to recruit him into the Flame-Chasers if the Fourth Honkai War did not occur as predicted.
If the Fourth Honkai War did arrive as scheduled, however, she would require an independent laboratory, rather than being assigned to work under someone else.
For MEI, this was a bet that offered no loss regardless of the outcome. Her father was a renowned scholar on the Mu Continent, and if he could join the Flame-Chasers, she would naturally gain access to more resources.
Similarly, the Flame-Chasers wouldn't lose from this bet either. Regardless of the outcome, they would gain something.
It was precisely this kind of win-win bet that the higher-ups accepted.
After successfully predicting the Fourth Honkai War, MEI quickly established a foothold within the Flame-Chasers and secured her own independent laboratory.
Although it hadn't yet been granted the title of a research institute, she was able to receive a portion of the resources that could be allocated.
Of course, MEI valued data access and freedom even more.
Leveraging Durandal's predictive advantage, MEI also recommended Kevin to participate in the battle against Honkai, even though Kevin had only recently joined the Flame-Chasers.
Mobius's evaluation of MEI as a "monster of reason" was absolutely correct.
She knew very well that relying solely on herself wouldn't be enough to gain more resources and freedom within the Flame-Chasers. Having rotated through multiple research institutes, MEI was already aware of the long and complex political relationships within the organization.
If she were alone, she would easily be drawn into the vortex of politics.
Therefore, she needed allies.
Within the Flame-Chasers, it was difficult for her to trust anyone.
Except for Kevin.
Soon, a member of the Flame-Chasers' staff led her into the new independent laboratory.
"As per the superior's arrangements, MEI will be granted a Doctorate and III-class internal clearance within the Flame-Chasers. Your permission settings have all been activated, and your monthly salary and benefits are itemized here."
The young woman who escorted her smiled slightly and said, "I look forward to you creating a better tomorrow for all of humanity."
After the staff member left, MEI mused, "A better tomorrow..."
Just then, she received a communication from Chen Ran.
"MEI, something's gone wrong. I need your help."
News of MEI's independent laboratory quickly spread through all departments of the Flame-Chasers. Both newcomers and veterans who had been with the organization for years were somewhat surprised.
Inside the First Research Institute.
Blanca watched Mobius playfully teasing little Griseo and couldn't help but say, "Doctor, you guessed it right. MEI is indeed no ordinary researcher."
"Her ambition is written all over her face. Isn't it natural to guess correctly?"
Mobius paused, then patiently said to little Griseo, "Little Griseo, I brought you a new picture book. Do you like it?"
"I do! Thank you, Teacher," little Griseo said sweetly.
Mobius had no descendants, so she doted on little Griseo. Even when Griseo was old enough to learn, Mobius had intended to train her as a biological researcher.
However, Griseo only liked to draw.
Mobius didn't force her, as not everyone possessed her level of talent and ambition.
"MEI is a genius, but she will also die from her arrogance," Mobius paused and then asked, "What about Chen Ran's situation?"
She was more concerned about Chen Ran's health.
It was Mobius who had suggested Chen Ran participate in the battle against the Herrscher this time.
"According to the information Chen Ran sent back, the Fourth Herrscher has been successfully defeated, and Chen Ran has gained the ability to fight Herrschers independently."
Blanca hesitated and said, "Doctor, the First Squad hopes Chen Ran will remain permanently in the combat department."
To this request, Mobius simply uttered two words: "Waste."
"Please refuse the First Squad for me. Chen Ran's value is not reflected in combat."
Blanca nodded, "I've already refused them for you."
To Mobius, Chen Ran's body held immense significance.
If before she yearned for humanity's evolution, now she had found the path to it.
The domain of Honkai was limited by thought, but Chen Ran's body was capable of carrying the genes to fight Honkai – what was known as Stigmata.
In this context, exploring Chen Ran's body meant infinite possibilities. His body was even more valuable than the Herrscher corpses Mobius had researched.
It was impossible to get Mobius to release him.
Blanca hesitated slightly before continuing, "I understand, but there's something else."
"Vill-V, the head of the Engineering Department, wishes to temporarily borrow Chen Ran."
Mobius grew somewhat irritated. "Why is everyone coming to me for people? Doesn't the Flame-Chaser have anyone else?"
Blanca replied, "Chen Ran's weapons were provided by the Engineering Department. She says that currently, only a few individuals have the physical strength to support testing new weapon types, and Chen Ran is an excellent choice."
At this time, Vill-V was busy adjusting weapon coefficients.
In the Flame-Chaser, both people and equipment were important.
Previously, the Flame-Chaser's weapons were general-purpose weapons created by Mobius based on her research into the Honkai. Although she wasn't a weapon expert, the weapons she made were very effective.
This was why the biology research institute ranked first.
However, the situation had changed. Since the Third Honkai War, the general-purpose weapons had become barely effective against Honkai creatures. In this situation, even Mobius, who hadn't specialized in materials, found herself somewhat powerless.
To use game terminology, their strength couldn't keep up with the current version and they were about to be phased out.
The higher-ups had previously commissioned the First Research Institute to upgrade their arsenal, but at that time, after encountering the Third Herrscher's corpse, Mobius had no interest in tinkering with weapons, so the matter was put on hold.
It remained on hold until it became a task for the Engineering Department.
This was the second task Vill-V had taken on after completing the Abyss. Currently, she was acting like nothing more than a tool.
However, she understood too little about the field of Honkai, so she dragged Chen Ran to the Engineering Department every day. It could be said that the first generation of weapons designed by the Engineering Department were fluid weapons jointly designed by Vill-V and Chen Ran.
Chen Ran's knowledge of fluid dynamics was instrumental.
