Background / History

Soul Hall spent roughly a thousand years spreading throughout the Dou Qi Continent in preparation for the Soul Clan's eventual war. It absorbed powerful figures from both righteous and evil paths, elevating some into hall elders or Heavenly Venerates, while harvesting souls on a continental scale 191.

Its operations were initially concealed behind branch halls and black-mist-cloaked Protectors. In the Northwest Continent, its agents hunted Venerable Yao's soul, collaborated with Han Feng, investigated the aftermath of Xiao Yan's apparent death, and held information concerning the missing Xiao Clan patriarch, Xiao Zhan 133 165. Soul Hall also pursued Xiao Yi Xian because of her Calamity Poison Body, seeking to control the destructive potential of her constitution 190 191.

As its activity became more open, Soul Hall attempted to recruit Mo Tang with promises of rapid cultivation advancement. Mo Tang refused because of its treatment of Protectors as expendable soul bodies and its likely interest in his Heaven Demon Phoenix bloodline 225. It subsequently fomented conflict across the Northwest Continent and Central Plains, using contacts among regional powers and puppet forces to incite wars and harvest souls from the resulting slaughter 261 335 345.

Soul Hall later escalated its conflict with major factions. It attempted to seize Three Thousand Burning Flame, disrupted the Pill Tower Alchemy Conference with a high-level Half Saint, and caused unrest throughout the Dan Domain 323 345. Its personnel also joined the struggle over the Dou Sheng ruins, where Star-Picking Old Ghost and the Black-White Heavenly Venerates tried to seize treasures and awakened the Dou Sheng remains, causing a lethal sound-wave storm 303 305 307 308.

After the Soul Clan's failed attempt to capture the Bodhi Ancient Tree, Soul Hall challenged the Four Directions Pavilion to a public martial contest at Fallen Peak. The battle exposed the Hall's Saint-level force but ended in a decisive defeat: its Deputy Hall Master was defeated by Queen Medusa, Old Man Soul Demon was crippled by Huang Tian, and Hall Master Hun Miesheng fled after suffering severe injuries 398 400 405 409.

With its leading combatants defeated, Mo Tang's coalition divided into three groups to assault the Heaven, Earth, and Human Halls. The Heaven Hall alone contained tens of thousands of enslaved souls and a soul-essence cluster refined from at least one million souls. The campaign wiped out Soul Hall's central power structure 409.
