They had the guts to ambush the Dogtown security forces by the roadside—not just guts, but plenty of it—but asking them to directly fight an equal number of Dogtown security troops was giving them far too much credit.

It looked somewhat like mounted riders driving down routed soldiers across the plains in old wars.

After the reinforcements arrived, Carl displayed marksmanship befitting an ordinary Dogtown security soldier amid the gradually dispersing smoke. But when she saw some Scavengers actually slip into the ruins of roadside buildings and escape, her gaze followed them.

But only followed them.
