Hearing someone call her, Carl, who was sitting on an upper floor of Gemini Sapphire Tower, turned around and saw V striding over from the other end of the corridor.
"I just finished negotiations with the Aldecaldos. We can give them one of Dogtown's overland trade routes. I confirmed it with Gago—both sides will profit from this route."
V stopped before Carl and handed her the data pad in his hand. "He asked me to come get your opinion again. What were you thinking about just now? You looked completely absorbed."
"Nothing. Just the matter with Jefferson from a few days ago." Carl rubbed her brow. "The mayoral vote is this week. I have to give it more thought. As for the route, if Gago says there's no problem, then sign it. He knows more about this than we do."
"Alright, I'll go reply right away." V sounded lighter as well. "We finally got a few quiet days, then Saul came to discuss business and had us running off our feet again. At least this can finally be wrapped up."
"The capable ones work harder. There aren't many real nomads among us, and you're one of them."
Carl smiled and nodded, signaling that he could get back to work. "Jack and the others should be back soon too. The trade route we negotiated with Hansen back when we represented Arasaka has to be personally reviewed now that we're in charge. They've been gone four days. They said they'd be back today."
"That'd be great. I'll go finish this up first, then come find you later to talk about the mayor. We can discuss it properly once everyone's together."
V had come in a hurry and left in a hurry. Before his words had even faded, he had already turned
