Chapter 955: 165. Helplessness
In Carl's perception, the arriving consciousness "spoke."
"Johnny."
That was what she said.
Then, in the very next instant, she immediately changed her words.
"You are not Johnny."
In that instant, Carl seemed to see data flowing like the Blackwall.
He saw countless streams of data resembling "tentacles" extending forward, and he also saw them ripple.
The arriving entity wanted to make contact with Carl.
Or, more accurately, like the Blackwall, she wanted to devour Carl through data.
Carl had already prepared to fight back. Having understood from all his AI calculations that something like this might happen, he was preparing to construct a data defense and throw his pre-prepared measures at the arriving entity to slow her intrusion when those "tentacles" stopped.
"You are very special."
As she spoke, seemingly sensing something, the entity began constructing her own data body. "You bear Johnny's existence imprint."
She seemed to pause for an instant, or perhaps she was simply continuing. "Who are you?"
Before Carl, he "saw" a massive body formed from data appear there. With just one glance, Carl could tell how enormous it was.
If the Blackwall on the other side was a wall stretched across the void, endlessly swallowing things like a black hole, then the entity before Carl was like a mountain.
A mountain whose endlessly flowing data alone could blanket everything Carl could see.
Carl knew that beyond the Blackwall, Rogue AIs devoured one another. Data possessed an innate instinct toward integration, after all. But now it seemed that network data with consciousness possessed an exceptional talent for devouring.
Carl had never seen such massive data, nor had he ever imagined that such data could be controlled by a "consciousness."
"I am Carl."
Facing the consciousness's question, Carl introduced himself.
"Carl. I
