Anton had a reason for disliking Astronomy.

When he arrived at the school library with Hermione after dinner and watched her expertly pull out all sorts of charts and tools, staring at the dense geometric patterns and lines on them, he briefly felt the terror of being ruled by mathematics all over again.

"First, we need these three star charts. One represents the rhythm of stellar changes this quarter, and one shows Neptune's trajectory..." Hermione unfolded the last folded star chart, covering the entire long table. "And this—the Divine Palace black-and-white grid chart. It maps the traces where the stars and fate intersect."

Anton looked blankly at Harry.

Harry looked blankly at Ron.

Ron looked blankly at Anton.

Confused fruits grew on the confused tree, and beneath it stood you and me.

Fine, they were all terrible students. Anton frowned at the nearly two-meter-long chart on the table. Its base was first drawn in black and white squares, then covered in crisscrossing, incomprehensible curves and branches.

Some of the intersections were marked with circles and a whole pile of Ancient Runes numerals. Oh, and the most ridiculous part was that some had one circle, some had several, and some were spiral circles like mosquito coils. There were more than a dozen kinds of circles in total.

Some circles even had an angled diagram drawn beside them.

At the same time, the entire chart contained a translucent pattern pieced together from magical creature designs.

Hermione picked up a notebook from beside her and flipped to a certain page.
