Background / History

Grindelwald was expelled from Durmstrang after using fellow students in Dark Magic research, despite the school’s unusually high tolerance for Dark Magic. He later advocated Wizard Supremacy, arguing that wizards should not hide from Muggles and that conquest and rule represented true nobility. His ideology attracted broader support than Voldemort’s Pureblood Supremacy and awakened ambitions throughout the Wizarding World. 382 409 557

His history with Albus Dumbledore shaped both of their lives. Dumbledore eventually opposed Grindelwald, imprisoned him in Nurmengard, and later became known as the “greatest wizard of the century” after defeating him.
