Background / History
Leng Yaozhu met Meng Li while he was accepting missions for the Spirit Pagoda. Identifying him as the source of ideas behind the New Soul Tool Communicator and its applications, she sought him out personally and offered to accept him as her disciple. She also cited his defeat of seven Shrek Academy students as proof of his exceptional talent. Meng Li formally became her disciple after kneeling and kowtowing three times. 63
She later accepted Gu Yue as a disciple as well. Both were listed in the Spirit Pagoda employee handbook as Leng Yaozhu’s disciples, and she maintained a close, domestic relationship with them outside formal instruction. 64 70
Her younger sister, Leng Yulai, became an Evil Soul Master. Yaozhu’s past is further complicated by her statement that Leng Yulai married the man she loved most, though she did not hate her sister despite the pain it caused. 72

Personality
Leng Yaozhu is stern and domineering toward outsiders, but exceptionally attentive toward her disciples. She teaches Meng Li cultivation, soul skills, and mecha design; checks on his breakthroughs and soul-spirit needs; and reserves rare items for him. 64
She values her disciples’ autonomy. When Cai Yue’er attempts to exchange Yun Ming for Meng Li and Gu Yue, Leng Yaozhu refuses to treat either disciple as property or a bargaining chip, insisting that they may choose their own teachers. 97
Her protectiveness can override convention. She intervenes during Meng Li’s match against Yuanen Yehui rather than allow him to be injured, and she reacts fiercely when he is harmed in the Black Market conflict. 94 117 134
- Openly critical of people she distrusts, including Cai Yue’er and Ya Li during an earlier conversation with her disciples. 70
- Encourages Meng Li’s growth through demanding training, criticism, and practical support rather than empty praise. 64 166
