Background / History

Tang Wulin first meets Na'er outside Red Mountain Academy after awakening his martial soul. He introduces himself openly and is friendly toward her, though Meng Li immediately treats him with suspicion and sells him an overpriced candied-hawthorn skewer. 2 3

As a student, Tang Wulin initially considers Blue Silver Grass a useless martial soul and worries about his missing parents. Meng Li encourages him to continue cultivating, recounting Tang San's history and arguing that Blue Silver Grass can become extraordinarily powerful. 24 Tang Wulin later rises with Meng Li, Gu Yue, and Xie Xie from Eastsea Academy's Class Five to Class One, becoming part of Class Zero. 28

Her spear bypasses his usual regeneration, severely wounds him, and carries him into an isolated space for interrogation before leaving him near death. 121 122 The incident damages his relationship with Meng Li after the essence is said to have transferred to Meng Li, though Tang Wulin struggles to reconcile that suspicion with the friend who had always supported him. 147

Tang Wulin represents Douluo Continent in the Star Luo Empire's youth tournament, where he meets both Dai Yun'er and the powerful Long Yue. Long Yue becomes the first opponent to overwhelm Tang Wulin in pure physical strength, reinforcing Tang Wulin's belief that stronger opponents are necessary for his growth. 171 176 He later loses to Long Yue despite fighting until collapse. 203
