Background / History

Bibi Dong was Spirit Hall’s Saintess and Qian Xunji’s disciple. At eighteen, she fell in love with Yu Xiaogang. Qian Xunji sexually assaulted her and confined her for ten months until she gave birth to Qian Renxue. The trauma shattered her emotional life, and the Rakshasa inheritance further intensified her coldness and hatred 12 13.

Approximately half a year before Qian Renxue’s seventh birthday, Qian Xunji returned gravely wounded from pursuing Tang Hao. Bibi Dong devoured him in the Papal Palace and became Pope. Qian Daoliu knew she had killed his son but spared her because Qian Xunji had wronged her and because of Qian Renxue 12.

Despite taking revenge, Bibi Dong remained affected by the Rakshasa God’s curse. Her estrangement from Qian Renxue continued until Jin Lingfeng’s Primal Chaos Bead restored her clarity and helped her approach her daughter 8 12.

Personality

In public, Bibi Dong is commanding, intimidating, and politically ambitious. Her initial audience with Jin Lingfeng places him under overwhelming pressure, and she ordinarily dislikes interruptions during official reports. She treats his appointment as Holy Son as an opening move in her plans for the continent 7 8 9.

Her private warmth becomes more visible after the curse is suppressed. She jokes with Jin Lingfeng, teaches him cultivation, prepares meals, and takes pleasure in their conversations. Her growing affection also makes her self-conscious: she conceals her feelings behind teasing, denials, and occasional displays of authority 9 34 36 38.

Her greatest emotional priorities are Qian Renxue and Jin Lingfeng. She feels profound guilt over her daughter’s neglected childhood and vows to make amends. Although she falls in love with Jin Lingfeng, she supports his marriage to Qian Renxue and later attempts to restrict their private meetings rather than endanger her daughter’s happiness 17 36 51 55 59.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Appointing the Holy Son and Reuniting Her Family

After consulting Qian Daoliu, Bibi Dong offers Jin Lingfeng the position of Holy Son and orders him to conceal his Martial Souls. Discovering that his abilities can aid both her cultivation and her resistance to the Rakshasa curse, she begins secret nightly cultivation sessions with him 7 8 9.

She attends Qian Renxue’s seventh birthday at his urging but is rejected by her daughter. Qian Daoliu intervenes with an explanation of her past, allowing their relationship to begin healing. At the temple fair, mother and daughter embrace and acknowledge each other. Their reconciliation also eases tensions among the Papal Palace, Elder Hall, and Worship Hall 12 13 17 18.

Breaking with Yu Xiaogang

Following another curse outbreak, Jin Lingfeng travels to Nuoding Academy to confront Yu Xiaogang. Bibi Dong intervenes to save her former love, then agrees to view his extracted memories. Learning his motives destroys her remaining trust in him and provokes another possession episode 20 24.

Her desire to live for Qian Renxue helps her resist long enough for Jin Lingfeng to cleanse the curse. Shortly afterward, he raises her ninth Soul Ring to one hundred thousand years 24 25.

Protecting Jin Lingfeng

When Demon Bear Douluo attacks Jin Lingfeng, Bibi Dong intervenes and declares that neither he nor Qian Renxue may be harmed. She kills the restrained attacker despite his pleas for mercy 33.

During the subsequent journey, her concealed feelings become increasingly apparent. She and Jin Lingfeng share an embrace, and she privately vows to protect him for the rest of her life 34 35 36.

Qian Renxue’s Return and Marriage

Bibi Dong convenes a papal assembly so Jin Lingfeng can demonstrate that Spirit Hall need not depend on Qian Renxue’s undercover mission. She requires him to convince the elders that he can support the goal of continental unification 50 51.

After Qian Renxue returns, Bibi Dong helps arrange the wedding and attends as an elder. Although she still loves Jin Lingfeng, she prioritizes her daughter’s happiness and later warns him that visiting her privately is no longer appropriate 55 56 59.

Imperial Conspiracy and Renewed Possession

As the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires assemble troops, Bibi Dong orders an investigation into their cooperation. She warns that the planned Soul Hunting Operation may need to begin early if the threat proves serious 66.

The Rakshasa God subsequently possesses her during a meal with Jin Lingfeng and tries to kill him. Bibi Dong regains enough control to attempt self-destruction, but the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud suppresses the god. After recovery, she asks Jin Lingfeng to kill her if a future outbreak cannot be stopped; he instead promises to become a god and destroy the Rakshasa God 68 69.

Qian Renxue’s Disappearance

Bibi Dong travels to the Star Luo Empire after Qian Renxue disappears. She reassures Jin Lingfeng that Qian Daoliu’s bloodline connection confirms her daughter is alive and suggests that her rescuer may be a Level 100 god 77.

She assigns Jin Lingfeng to represent Spirit Hall at the coming Jialing Pass meeting against the Evil Soul Masters, then leaves to investigate personally. Unknown to her, Qian Renxue watches their exchange through an ancient mirror and hears the private address “Sister Dong’er” 77.
