Asakusa was a bustling district centered around Senso-ji Temple. It had once been known for the Yoshiwara brothels, and later, when Sarowaka District, one of Edo's three major entertainment areas, moved there, it became Edo's foremost commercial district, known as the place of pleasure.
Only after arriving in Asakusa did Tsugikuni Kuuga realize that he had been living in the mountains all this time. Still, the things in Asakusa were not particularly appealing to someone from the modern age.
They merely felt novel to Tsugikuni Kuuga, who had always lived in the mountains. In particular, there was plenty of food here that he had never tried before. It seemed he should bring more back when he left.
Faced with so much delicious food, Tsugikuni Kuuga seemed to have forgotten why he had come. Holding a dorayaki in his hand, he ran over to an udon noodle stall.
The owner was a bald middle-aged man who looked very kind. Tsugikuni Kuuga politely said:
"Sir, give me a bowl of your most authentic udon noodles!"
"Sure thing, just a moment!"
Tsugikuni Kuuga then sat down in front of the stall and watched the man work with eager anticipation.
He had long wanted to try this classic anime dish. Tsugikuni Kuuga remembered that Tanjiro had not finished his meal properly and had made the stall owner very angry.
"By the way, kid, you're not from around here, are you?"
"No, I came here to find someone."
Tsugikuni Kuuga chatted with the owner on and off. It seemed the owner was quite talkative as well.
Before long, Tsugikuni Kuuga had wolfed down five full bowls in a row. The owner was delighted. Sure enough, his food was well received by customers—this was recognition of his work.
