Hearing Bai Yun'er's words, Munin and Sheng Ning exchanged smiles. Could Runick be interrupted that easily? Obviously not!
The effects were processed in reverse order of activation.
Chain Link 2, Raigeki Break successfully activated. Hugin's continuous effect allowed it to Banish itself as a substitute for destruction (this does not start a Chain).
Chain Link 1, Runick Fountain's effect, Youye drew three cards after returning three to his Deck.
"Hugin has that effect?" Bai Yun'er was a little surprised to see this, and made a mental note.
Wu Ping glanced at the Runick Fountain on Youye's field with some regret, showing no other reaction. But the next moment, as Youye spoke, the smile she wore faltered slightly.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card, [Runick Flashing Fire], targeting your [Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon] on the field. Destroy that card, then Banish the top two cards of your Deck!"
As he spoke, a massive firearm appeared on Youye's field. It fired countless fiery bullets at Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. Under the rain-like attack, Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon no longer had its previous arrogant demeanor.
It spat out flames, trying to resist, but with a 'boom', Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon was destroyed and vanished from the field, resting peacefully in the Graveyard.
"Next, I activate the Continuous Spell Card, [Messenger of Peace]. According to its effect, neither player can declare an attack with monsters with 1500 or more ATK!"
"Finally, I Set one card and end my turn."
Seeing Youye declare the end of his turn like this, Munin's eyes immediately lit up. She finally understood why Youye said his playstyle was Positive.
Indeed, compared to Youye, her playstyle was definitely Positive, with maximum interaction!
With this move, Youye had Floodgate protection. Defeating him with an OTK was basically impossible. She could only Stall and watch him slowly Banish her entire Deck.
The only countermeasure was to deal with his Archetype Field Spell and Floodgates. How could that be done? Even if she drew the extremely hard-to-get Harpie's Feather Duster, Hugin would Banish itself as a substitute. Could she Banish the entire field?
Sheng Ning felt her scalp tingle. Having dueled Munin before, she knew the real torment was about to begin.
Bai Yun'er hadn't realized the seriousness of the situation yet, only thinking that this self-protection move was impressive and prevented Wu Ping from breaking through for a while.
Meanwhile, sweat was already beading on Wu Ping's forehead. She had very few monsters in her Deck with less than 1500 ATK. What proper Duelist brings low-ATK monsters instead of high-ATK ones?
She hadn't noticed it before, but now that she paid attention, she realized how disgusting Messenger of Peace was. One card completely locked her down!
Furthermore, she understood how Youye would win against her – by Banishing her Deck until she had no cards left to draw, thus losing the duel!
For a moment, she felt completely numb. Bai Yun'er had mentioned to her more than once on the way here that Youye always went for OTKs, that his duels were simple and direct, which was completely different from this.
"My turn, draw!" Despite the numbness, Wu Ping still drew a card.
Looking at the card she drew, Wu Ping's heart was filled with helplessness. She hadn't drawn a card to destroy Spell/Trap Cards, so she chose to Normal Summon [Red-Eyes Wyvern] from her hand, then Set one card, and end her turn.
She didn't want to do this either, but until she drew a card to destroy Spell/Trap Cards, facing [Messenger of Peace], she could truly only Stall like this.
"My turn, draw!" Youye glanced at his card, and the corners of his mouth began to curl up: "Anything during the Draw Phase?"
"No!" Wu Ping saw Youye's gaze, and her expression changed from helplessness to a hint of fear.
Sometimes losing isn't scary, what's scary is knowing there's no hope at all and still being relentlessly tormented!
"During the Standby Phase, I pay 100 LP to maintain [Messenger of Peace]. Then, in Main Phase 1, I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card [Runick Dispelling] to Special Summon a Runick monster. I choose to Special Summon the Level 9 [Runick Sleipnir] in face-up Defense Position!"
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card [Runick Freezing Curses] targeting your [Red-Eyes Wyvern] on the field. Its effects are negated until the end of the turn, and then you Banish the top two cards of your Deck!"
"Runick Fountain's effect! I add Runick Freezing Curses back to my hand, and Runick Flashing Fire back to my Deck, then draw two cards!"
"I Normal Summon the Level 1 Tuner monster [Effect Veiler]. I Tune it with the Level 9 Sleipnir, so I can Special Summon a Level 10 Synchro Monster from my Extra Deck that meets the requirements!"
"Noble white lily!"
"The time for revolution has come!"
"Take victory into my hands!"
"Synchro Summon, Level 10!"
"Bloom, Baronne de Fleur!"
As Youye finished speaking, the entire shop was filled with a rain of petals. With the sound of hooves, a female knight appeared on the battlefield, mounted on a warhorse, wearing white armor, holding a sword in her right hand and a shield in her left, and draped in a red cape!
[Baronne de Fleur]
[Warrior Type/Synchro/Effect/Wind Attribute/Level 10]
[ATK: 3000; DEF: 2400]
After appearing, Baronne subtly turned her head, glancing at Youye behind her.
Three years ago, this person came to her with the Original Card given by the rules, and showed a record of consistently ranking first since starting Master Duel, which made her feel admiration and give him her card.
She originally thought he would summon her quickly and let her lead the charge to defeat opponents, but she didn't expect that three full years would pass before he summoned her. If she hadn't learned from a certain Mermaid that he didn't have a Deck, she might have felt disappointed that Youye had abandoned her for three years.
Compared to her emotions, the four girls in the shop were full of question marks!
When did Youye get this card in real life? How did they not hear any news about it?!
Also, isn't this the Baronne Archetype? A weak Archetype on par with the Tenyi Archetype, with the strongest only reaching Earth-level Duelist. But that Earth-level Duelist didn't possess the Baronne de Fleur before them, at least not in the records! (Whether Baronne has an Archetype is ambiguous; technically it doesn't, but Konami keeps doing crossovers with Sherry from 5D's, so I've set it up as having an Archetype).
Furthermore, after this monster appeared, the three girls all felt a pressure. This pressure was at least ten times higher than the Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon from before. Clearly, the Baronne Archetype monster before them was definitely a terminal monster significantly stronger than Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon!
If it weren't a major taboo to pry into others' secrets, the four girls, especially Bai Yun'er, would want to ask where Youye got this card and what effects it had.
Just as they were thinking this, Youye spoke!
"Baronne's first effect, once per turn, you can target one card on the field and destroy it. I choose your [Red-Eyes Wyvern] on the field!"
"Target and destroy a card once per turn?" Hearing this Effect, the four women were slightly surprised. The three women immediately noticed something important: this was the first Effect, meaning Baronne had at least a second Effect, maybe even three!
Thinking of this, Bai Yun'er was already plotting how to get this card from Youye!
Compared to Wu Ping, Munin, and Sheng Ning, her Swordsoul Archetype could easily Synchro Summon a Level 10 monster as long as Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan was in her hand, making Baronne incredibly easy to summon.
The problem was how to obtain this card!
While Bai Yun'er's thoughts were drifting, Wu Ping felt increasingly uncomfortable. Not only had her field been cleared, but her opponent had also summoned a Level 10 Synchro monster. And with cards being Banished, she had very few opportunities left!
"I skip the Battle Phase and end my turn. It's your turn!" Youye smiled slightly.
Wu Ping's expression was serious, as if facing a formidable enemy!
