Early the next morning, Jon saw heaps of news about Gilderoy Lockhart in the Daily Prophet.
"Famous wizard Gilderoy Lockhart is in fact a fraud who abused Memory Charms!" the Daily Prophet wrote on its front-page headline.
"The International Anti-Dark Magic League has announced the revocation of Lockhart's honorary membership, and the Order of Merlin Committee has announced the withdrawal of the Third-Class Medal awarded to Lockhart." This was the news on the second page.
"Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge stated that law enforcement officers have already been dispatched and will arrest Lockhart and bring him to justice as soon as possible." In a small corner of the third page, Jon saw a portrait of the Minister of Magic.
Just as Lockhart had predicted before, his deeds spread throughout the entire school...
When he passed by Gryffindor's long table, Jon heard Ron Weasley's loud voice:
"I knew it all along—Gilderoy Lockhart was a fraud!"
"Exactly. Not a single thing he said was true!" Harry Potter nodded with deep agreement.
"But he got away..." Hermione Granger shrieked. Her voice sounded both surprised and angry, as though her feelings had been cheated. "The Ministry of Magic actually didn't catch him!"
"Hmph, he won't get far!" Ron snorted. "My dad told me the Ministry's law enforcement officers are really good!"
It was not only Gryffindor students. Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and even Slytherin students were all celebrating Gilderoy Lockhart's departure... For the first time in nearly a century, the four houses showed a startling unity on one matter.
