Hannah Abbott's words successfully piqued Jon's interest.

After Lockhart left, who would take over as the Temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts Teacher?

There were still nearly four months left in the term. They couldn't possibly let the entire school go without one subject!

After all, Hogwarts had no assistant teachers for the Defence Against the Dark Arts course... finding a proper teacher was difficult enough, let alone an assistant.

Could Professor Dumbledore be planning to bring Remus Lupin in early?

That was possible, but judging by Voldemort's curse on the position, something would happen around this time next year!

It drew Jon's attention away from his frustration over practising the Patronus Charm.

He specifically asked a few Hufflepuff second-years, who had just had a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson that morning.

"I'm sorry, but I can't tell you, Jon!" Ernie Macmillan said. "That Temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor doesn't want us spreading his name around... I can only tell you that he's absolutely, absolutely brilliant!"

Jon pursed his lips and had no choice but to let it go.

At lunch, he heard most of the students in the school discussing who this Temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor could be.

"I think it might be Alastor Moody!"

As he passed the Gryffindor table again, Jon heard Ron Weasley shouting from over there:

"That auror, Mad-Eye Moody... my dad told me Moody and Professor Dumbledore are very close friends. And, coincidentally, he retired from the Auror Office at the Ministry of Magic two months ago!"

"Anyone can be the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, as long as it isn't Snape..." Harry Potter muttered quietly. "You know... Snape has been eyeing that position for a long time!"

"I think the Ministry of Magic might send someone!"
