Background / History

Astoria met Jon Hart aboard the Hogwarts Express before their first year. They quickly bonded over Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, magical creatures, and sweets from the trolley. Her mother’s position as head of the Ministry department regulating magical creatures had given Astoria considerable knowledge of the subject 9.

She is the younger daughter of Diana Greengrass and Daphne Greengrass’s sister. Her father died when she was very young; Astoria remembers little of him, and Diana rarely spoke of him 255. Astoria later learned that Diana’s childhood was shaped by a family curse and the presumed death of her sister Alice; Diana’s resulting guilt was transferred onto Astoria 541.

Astoria had poor health from childhood, spending approximately half a month at St Mungo’s each year. The apparent cause was a hereditary Blood Curse. At age five, she saw herself as a monster in a demon-revealing mirror at Malfoy Manor, leaving her afraid that she might hurt others 277 338.
