The Hermit

Facing the Mountain Hermit in person felt completely different from seeing the Simulator's pixel projection.

It stood a little over two meters tall, in the form of a mummy wrapped in strips of cloth, yet it did not have the proud posture it had shown on the Spirit Observation Immortal Platform, arms spread wide as if receiving worship.

This Hermit sat quietly on a stone, playing a bow harp. His third hand held a stone wine cup, arm hanging down, as though raising the cup toward Lu Yao, his visitor.

There was also a ring-shaped object behind him.

Only now did Lu Yao see clearly that the Hermit's ring was a kind of exoskeleton growing from his back, perhaps a keratinous material similar to horns and armor. This bone structure formed a wide-edged ring that looked like the divine halo behind immortals and Buddhas.

The stone statue's face was also wrapped in bandages. The outlines of a nose, eyes, mouth, and ears could vaguely be made out, similar to a human's.

His arms were long and thin, his palms broad, with five long and powerful fingers. A single hand was enough to wrap around his own head.

Lu Yao touched the Hermit's forearm.

It felt rough and cold, no different from ordinary stone. There really was no sign that he possessed the power to destroy the world.

Lu Yao looked at the Sacred Scarab of Pharaoh's Body. "You said Anubis's deityhood came from him?"

The Sacred Scarab answered, "Yes, Lord Yao. Lord Hermit is an extremely special and ancient existence. He bestowed divine power and Wisdom upon Lord Anubis. In Lord Anubis's eyes, Lord Hermit was like a father."
