"Captain's order. Eugene from the repair room, report to the bow deck."
The messenger sent the information through the magnetic field.
Eugene put down the railing board he was polishing and left the repair room at the bottom of the cabin. Outside was a wide, long corridor, its floor and walls made up of countless railing boards. Quite a lot of graffiti had been drawn on them too; some had been left by the children of today, but more had been drawn by people of the past.
In the rooms on both sides of the corridor lived children a little younger than Eugene.
Most of them were still learning how to use tools and magnetic force. A small number, like Eugene, had mastered all the basic skills and begun taking part in the ship's formal labor—polishing and joining railing boards, repairing damaged bulkheads, making magnetic collars, and so on.
The bottom of a Magnetic Field Sailboat was used to protect the children. As magnetic people grew older and their abilities increased, they would gradually enter higher decks, and only after earning crew status could they freely enter and leave the deck.
Eugene went all the way up the stairs, and after a crew member confirmed and opened the door, he stood on the deck.
The magnetic field outside surged and roiled, forcing him to use magnetic force to cling to the ship just to stand steady. Under the storms and waves of the Magnetic Sea, the ship pitched without stopping. This was a completely different world from the stable cabins, and it was also the true, brutal environment.
Eugene had already come up several times.
But every time he stepped onto this place, he still felt excited.
Sailing through the boundless Magnetic Sea, the already not-so-large Magnetic Field Sailboat seemed
