On the journey back, although Professor Breen did not forbid the young wizards from talking, everyone remained strangely quiet.
When they left Avalon Prison again, the prisoners assigned to outdoor labor were still working beneath the slanting sunset.
They crossed the wilderness once more and boarded the great oak ship waiting there.
After drifting across the sparkling lake for an hour, they returned to the fortified city they had first arrived at.

The leader of the Hit Wizards who had inspected them earlier handed back their confiscated wands one by one and had them sign a piece of parchment.
Harry felt this was completely unnecessary.
After witnessing a life vanish before his eyes like a gust of wind, Harry had no interest whatsoever in sharing anything with anyone.

Theodore raised his hand and looked pleadingly at Professor Breen. "Will we have another chance to visit Avalon Prison?"
"Educational excursions will become a tradition at Hogwarts, and their forms will become more diverse. My plan is for the school to select several locations every year and have the Heads of House lead you on visits—" Amosta said pleasantly. "So yes, there will be opportunities, Mr. Nott—"
Though relieved, Theodore still looked mournful.
That meant he only had two more chances to visit Avalon Prison, while his father, convicted of carrying out Death Eater terrorist activities, would have to be imprisoned in Avalon for at least thirteen years before he could be considered for parole.
