Background / History
Akemi was once involved with Akai Shuichi, who entered the Black Organization under the alias Moroboshi Dai and the codename Black Label Whiskey. Although she knew he was an FBI mole, she concealed his identity from the Organization. After his cover was exposed and he fled, the Organization marginalized her rather than killing her immediately. 35
Wanting to leave the Organization with her younger sister, Miyano Shiho, Akemi accepted Gin's offer: steal one billion yen in exchange for both sisters' freedom. She understood the danger but pursued the mission as her only apparent chance to secure Shiho's future. The Organization, however, intended to use the task as a pretext to eliminate her whether she succeeded or failed. 34 35
Gin assigned Tokisaki Kurumi to monitor Akemi and kill her if necessary. Akemi initially met Kurumi with caution, expecting another ruthless Organization operative, but Kurumi warned her that the agreement was a trap and began arranging a false-death escape. 33 34 39 40
While working at a bank as Hirota Masami, Akemi gathered intelligence and prepared the robbery. Kurumi acted as the getaway driver and arranged the operation's escape route and staged-death details, communicating through written notes when Akemi's apartment surveillance made open discussion unsafe. 41 45 46
After the robbery, Akemi took part in Kurumi's staged confrontation at her apartment. Aso Narumi impersonated Akai Shuichi, allowing the Organization to believe Akemi had escaped with Akai while Kurumi fought off Curacao's pursuing squad. 47 48
Kurumi ultimately brought Akemi to her home, where she was given Narumi's room and joined Narumi and Curacao as a new resident. 50

Personality
Akemi is kind and gentle by nature, to the point that she worries about innocent bystanders becoming entangled in Organization affairs. 34 Her affection for Shiho drives her most dangerous decisions; even knowing the Organization is unlikely to honor its promise, she accepts the billion-yen mission to pursue the slightest possibility of freedom for them both. 34 35
She is cautious around Organization members and initially doubts Kurumi's motives, but she remains composed under pressure. When Kurumi arrives at her apartment in the staged assassination scenario, Akemi convincingly confronts her and participates in the deception despite the danger. 34 47 Even after Akai's abandonment, she retains lingering concern for him. 48
