"Brat!"
The Two-Tailed Matatabi looked down at Kagetsu, who had walked beneath it, raised his head, and quietly met its gaze. Though the Chakra around it carried the fierce heat of flames, its tone was unexpectedly gentle.
"How did you split me into two parts?"
The Two-Tailed Matatabi lay down inside the cell. It disliked this place that bound it, yet it showed no intense resistance.
"Sealing Technique, and Yin Release Power." Kagetsu raised one finger and explained softly.
In truth, he suspected that some Yang Release Power might have been mixed in as well, creating this unusual situation. But that was only a conjecture and had yet to be confirmed.
"Impressive!" The Two-Tailed Matatabi rested its head atop its crossed paws, its eyes still fixed on Kagetsu. "Do you want my power too?"
Under the Cat Matatabi's astonished gaze, Kagetsu slowly shook his head. "I want to study your power!"
"Study?" The Two-Tailed Matatabi narrowed its eyes. It could sense that Kagetsu was not lying. He had none of that desire to covet its power or forcibly extract and use it.
Yet that was precisely what made the Cat Matatabi find him somewhat novel.
Over its long life, it had seen humans who regarded it as a natural disaster; humans who wanted to control it and wield it as power; humans who coveted its strength and wished to completely command the power of Tailed Beasts in human form. But someone like Kagetsu, who had little desire for its power yet was overflowing with curiosity, was a first.
"Originally, I thought you would treat me terribly. I didn't expect you to be willing to communicate with me. That saves me a great deal of trouble." Kagetsu was also somewhat surprised as he sensed the volatile mass of Chakra before him.
