Background

Kagetsu retains memories from a previous life and recognizes the Talent Card he receives as Mayuri Kurotsuchi's. Initially disappointed that it is a research-focused talent rather than direct combat power, he resolves to build a foundation through pharmacology, anatomy, and systematic research while he is still six years old. 1 9

He turns a dog-food formula into a long-term business arrangement with the Nara Clan, earning both research funds and medicinal herbs. He then converts part of his residence into a laboratory, alarming Nara Shikaji with his unusually driven behavior for a Nara clansman. 4

Kagetsu's Academy combat style already combines Nara shadow techniques with preparation and research. He defeats Aburame Qingzhi by producing a Kikaichū-specific insecticide from dead insects gathered during Qingzhi's earlier matches. 5 6
