Background / History

Wei Ke is a Hunter searching for his missing hunting wolf, A De. He was directed to the Lost Sacrificial Ground to gain Hunter power, but emerged unable to remember what occurred there; A De had vanished, his body had become wolf-like, and both Hunters and Wildfire Cultists treated him as a threat. 250 263

The Wildfire Cult calls Wei Ke its Saint because he contains a consciousness of Wildfire. This consciousness is the final step required for Wildfire's ascent to godhood: if Wei Ke's self-perception becomes identical to Wildfire's, he will be assimilated rather than merely possessed. 276

Bai Wei responds by reinforcing Wei Ke's identity as a Hunter, treating it as fundamentally incompatible with Wildfire's godhood. Wei Ke accepts this framing and insists on facing his own trials rather than allowing Bai Wei to take his place. 276

Rhine later suggests that A De may be central to the Wildfire Cult's interest in Wei Ke. During the Senro era, Hunters worked alongside empowered hounds; this partnership disappeared after the Senro God's death and was seemingly replaced by Wildfire followers who transform into wolves. 263

Wei Ke ordinarily conceals a body altered by his connection to A De and Wildfire. His appearance increasingly resembles the wolf transformations associated with Wildfire Cultists, causing others to mistake him for one. 263

Wei Ke is compassionate, earnest, and intensely protective. Ryan's Sacrifice
