Background / History

The Primordial World was opened by Pangu after his battle against the Three Thousand Demon Gods. The defeated Demon Gods contributed to the world but remained in an uncertain state of death, leaving behind remnants and origins that continued to endanger its inhabitants. Innate Divine Beings originate from Pangu or arise directly from the world itself, unlike beings carrying Chaos Demon God origins. 1

In its early era, the world lacked a manifested Heavenly Dao and was dominated by dangers such as Chaos Demon God remnants. Zhou Mountain connected the world’s origin, with its peak reaching Chaos and its roots extending into the Nine Netherworld. 1 2

The Primordial Heavenly Dao later manifested as the supreme rule governing all things. Its emergence influenced the separation of the Three Heavens from the Nine Heavens and altered the balance among the world’s major powers. 23

Geography & Cosmology

• Zhou Mountain / Buzhou Mountain — A colossal peak linked to the world’s origin; it originally connected Chaos above with the Nine Netherworld below. It later collapsed, causing the Heavenly River’s waters to overflow. 1 331
• Nine Heavens — The original heavenly structure of the Primordial World. Li Fan later merged the Three Heavens’ Great Thousand Worlds into it, creating the Twelve Heavens. 58

Primordial Era

The earliest known age is marked by the aftermath of Pangu’s world-opening, the emergence of Innate Divine Beings, Chaos Demon God remnants, and the gradual appearance of the Heavenly Dao. 1 23

Middle Ancient Era

The Middle Ancient Era begins as Innate Spiritual Qi fades and impure Houtian Spiritual Qi rises. Their overlap causes Spiritual Qi riots and recurring disasters throughout the world. 331

Houtian and End of Dharma Era

As the Houtian Era progresses, the Primordial World loses much of its Innate Dao rhythm and Spiritual Qi. In the End of Dharma era, divine mountains and immortal springs are sealed or decline, immortal mountains and dojos fall into ruin, and mortal humans become the dominant population. 418 514 575

Era of Cultivation

Li Fan proposes replacing the old Immortal Path with an Era of Cultivation founded upon self-cultivation, the Great Dao, and Origin. The Twelve Heavens of Grand Unity become its foundation, alongside protections for the Human Dao and Human Realm. 575
