Background / History

Hai Bodong operated Desert City's inconspicuous Ancient Map Workshop while guarding a fragment of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame map. His frost-white hair, aging appearance, and apparent peak Dou Ling cultivation concealed the seal Medusa had placed on him decades earlier. The seal prevented him from entering the Tagor Desert's depths, where the Sand Mandara needed for a Tribulation Breaking Pill grew. 20 21

When Xiao Yan attempted to purchase the map fragment, Hai Bodong refused and attacked with ice techniques. Xiao Yan broke his Ice Spirit Armor with Strange Fire, then offered to refine the Sixth-grade Tribulation Breaking Pill in exchange for the fragment and Hai Bodong's future assistance. Desperate to regain his strength, Hai Bodong accepted. 20 21

After consuming the completed pill, Hai Bodong shattered Medusa's seal and recovered as a Two-Star Dou Emperor. Xiao Yan then offered him a Purple Spirit Restoration Pill in return for one year of service as a guard. Upon returning to the Imperial Capital, Hai Bodong reclaimed his standing within the Mite'er Family. Mittel Tengshan recognized him as Elder Hai and treated his return as the family's chance to rise again. Despite his temper, he is principled about keeping promises. He refuses to abandon Xiao Yan's desert expedition once he has accepted the deal, even while insisting that entering the Snake People Clan is near-suicidal. 25
