Background / History
Flender operated a shop in Suotuo City that sold old-looking Soul Tools and crystals. He initially priced a Yellow Crystal at one hundred Gold Soul Coins, but Ye Fan negotiated it down to one Copper Soul Coin, leaving Flender at a loss. Tang San later left the shop without purchasing the Plate Crystal, depriving him of the Dragon Beard Needle hidden within it 24.
As the dean of Shrek Academy, Flender was proud of recruiting four qualified students in a single year, describing it as the academy's best enrollment result in twenty years. He was especially impressed by Ye Fan and Xiao Wu, whose Soul Power had reached the mid-thirties at age twelve 53.
When Yu Xiaogang arrived at Shrek, Flender mistakenly assumed that Yu's disciple was Ye Fan. Their extended conversation only clarified the misunderstanding when Yu revealed that his disciple was Tang San—a name Flender did not recognize 53 55. Flender nevertheless invited Yu to serve as a temporary teacher at the academy 53.
After Shrek Academy closed, Flender led its teachers and students toward Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Following their departure from the royal academy, he remained determined to preserve Shrek's future and pursue a place where its students could continue training 142 148.
Appearance
Flender is described as a man with a hooked nose and a face likened to the sole of a shoe. His appearance gives Ye Fan the immediate impression of a crooked merchant 23.
- Has a hooked nose 23
- Has a distinctive, shoe-sole-like face 23
- Gains a pair of brown owl wings when using Martial Soul Possession 94
Personality
Flender is blunt, opportunistic, and intensely profit-minded. He recognizes commercial value quickly, whether bargaining with the Soto Grand Soul Arena over Tang San and Yu Xiaogang's popularity or turning Shrek Academy's tournament notoriety into advertising and uniform sales 104 197.
Despite his mercenary habits, he treats the academy and its students as his responsibility. He prioritizes the students' safety when facing Hu Yanzhen, urges the group to leave Sunset Forest immediately after the needed Soul Rings are acquired, and sets practical restrictions during their graduation hunt so that the students must learn to fight for themselves 132 187 180.
He is also fiercely protective of Shrek Academy's identity and labor. During an argument with Yu Xiaogang, he stresses that Shrek is the work of himself and its teachers rather than something Yu Xiaogang can command 126.
