Background / History

Dongbo Cheng Zhi is the young patriarch of the Dongbo Family and a prominent swordsman of the Azure Dragon Oath. He travels widely, has previously sparred with Lord Bei Ming Ji Hu at Black Tortoise Rock, and holds Ji Hu’s swordsmanship in extremely high regard. 89

His family’s ancestral Demon Ghost weapon, White Dragon Tooth, was lost during his father’s generation. The loss left his father depressed and withdrawn from demon-subjugation affairs, while Dongbo Cheng Zhi made recovering the weapon a personal goal. 861

During his travels in Wangbei City, he meets Bai Pu. Bai Pu’s elegant appearance, willingness to show him the Heavenly Dragon Remnant Scroll, and evident devotion to swordsmanship earn Dongbo Cheng Zhi’s interest and trust. Though unable to interpret the scroll himself, Dongbo Cheng Zhi directs Bai Pu toward the Zhu Family and Bei Ming Ji Hu as potential sources of guidance. 89

Meeting Bai Pu and Swordsmanship Guidance

Dongbo Cheng Zhi first meets Bai Pu in a tavern and initially treats him coldly. Bai Pu’s presentation of the Heavenly Dragon Remnant Scroll changes his attitude, and Dongbo Cheng Zhi offers valuable information about possible masters who could interpret it. 89

After refusing to recommend Bai Pu to the Demon Subjugation Team due to the Oath Seal requirement, he personally trains Bai Pu in swordsmanship. His guidance helps Bai Pu raise Two-Handed Swordsmanship to Advanced Level 3 and develop an understanding of wind. 99 100

Red Vine Hill and the Dark Abyss

When the Demon Subjugation Squad is ambushed, Dongbo Cheng Zhi immediately moves to Red Vine Hill and holds off three Demon Generals so the others can flee. 101 Bai Pu disrupts Demon General Gui Ge’s siege by raiding Yellow Pool, allowing Dongbo Cheng Zhi to retreat and establishing much deeper trust between them. 112
