Background / History

Sakura joins Naruto and Sasuke on Team 7 under Kakashi. She initially approaches training largely to spend time with Sasuke, but her aptitude for chakra control becomes clear when Naruto teaches her tree climbing and Sasuke teaches her water walking 47 174. Realizing she struggles to help her teammates in battle, she turns to medical ninjutsu and studies under the hospital nurse Tian Lu 175 300.

After demonstrating her medical knowledge, Sakura becomes Tsunade’s disciple. Tsunade trains her harshly to survive attacks while fulfilling a medical ninja’s duty to keep her teammates alive 93. Sakura refuses to quit. She later tells Naruto that although she still likes Sasuke, she wants to become a powerful ninja in her own right rather than define herself by pursuing him 65.

Sakura eventually helps train Konoha shinobi in battlefield first aid and basic medical ninjutsu. She also assists at the hospital, where the workload can leave her exhausted 160 285 353.

Appearance

Sakura has pink hair, described as long later in the story 61 353.

Personality

Sakura is diligent and resilient: she continues studying and training despite Tsunade’s painful instruction 65 93. She is protective of her teammates, scolding Naruto and Sasuke when their training leaves Sasuke injured 281. Her affection for Sasuke remains important to her, but she comes to value strength and self-worth independently of whether he returns it 65.
