History

Han, Kokuō's jinchūriki, disappeared after three of his companions were killed. Ōnoki suspected that Han had met with misfortune after reports placed suspicious figures in black robes with red clouds near the scene. 244

Akatsuki's Kisame and the masked Tobi captured the Four-Tails and Five-Tails, with Kisame performing most of the fighting. 246 Kokuō was subsequently sealed into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path alongside the Two-Tails and Four-Tails. 247

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Obito used Han to manifest Kokuō fully alongside Matatabi, the Four-Tails, and Gyūki. Under Obito's control, Kokuō charged into battle, defeated Zuo Zhu's summoned Blue Snake, and attacked Kushina's Nine-Tails form before Naruto and Kushina sealed the four beasts with Adamantine Sealing Chains. 341

While restrained, Kokuō joined the other captured Tailed Beasts in entrusting Chakra to Naruto and Kushina, asking them to prevent the world's destruction. 342 Obito later reclaimed Kokuō with the Demonic Statue's chains; Kokuō's head subsequently protruded from the unstable Ten-Tails. 342 344

Kokuō was among the Tailed Beasts extracted from Obito after Naruto and the Allied Forces won the chakra tug-of-war. 352 After the war, it joined the Two-Tails, Four-Tails, and Eight-Tails in launching stone spheres for a meteor-making wager. 355
